Devious Maids Preview Large

Hey, hey! To let you know that Devious Maids will be starting on M-Net Series Showcase this Thursday (23 January, 2014) at 20h00.

It was originally scheduled to start in the middle of last year and it's been postponed numerous times since then. Eventually it's actually happening.

Here's more about the show from a story I did in July last year when I first heard that M-Net Series has it ...

It's Marc Cherry's latest project. Marc - who created Desperate Housewives - has joined forces with Eva Longoria for it. He created it and Eva's one of the producers.

It has very close ties to Desperate Housewives in that it also centres round five troubled chikitas. The fivesome work as maids to the rich and famous in Los Angeles - they listen to their secrets, see their vulnerabilities, suffer their prejudices and have aspirations of their own, which conflict with their jobs.

Ugly Betty's sister Ana Ortiz headlines the cast as Marisol, who arrives in LA looking for a job ... with ulterior motives. Other starring notables include Judy Reyes (of Scrubs) and Dania Ramírez, who played Maya on Heroes.

This from the series' official description:

In the series premiere, the women turn to one another for support when their friend and fellow maid Flora is brutally murdered at the home of her employers, Evelyn and Adrian Powell, at one of the largest society events of the year.

Meanwhile, newcomer Marisol is hired to clean the home of Taylor and Michael Stappord , a newlywed couple with a complicated love history. But Marisol has ulterior motives and when someone she loves becomes wrapped up in Flora’s murder, she goes undercover to learn the truth.

The series is inspired by the hit Mexican telenovela Ellas son...la Alegría del Hogar.

PS: It's been signed for a second season which premieres in the US in April, 2014.
