Today we were alerted to a problem by a TVSA member that we were unaware of: users of the Internet Explorer browser are unable to post replies on blog articles as the Reply Box at the bottom of articles has disappeared.
If you are logged in and can still see the Reply Box then this article is not for you - this is purely to help anyone who is struggling to post replies in a non-existent box.
Firstly, many will be aware that we have ben redeveloping TVSA for a long time now. Various delays for a variety of reasons have meant it has taken longer than expected and as such problems like this have arisen.
The new site won't have problems like this, but it's too much work to fix the old site, meaning you need a quick fix for a problem like this.
The latest version of Internet Explorer is not compatible with some of the old TVSA functionality, for example the Reply Box, but all is not lost: Internet Explorer has a function called "Compatibility Mode" which allows you to browse as you used to.
If you are struggling to see the Reply Box, you need to enable Compatibility Mode. In the top left of your browser you will see the URL (address) of the page you are looking at, eg.
http://www.tvsa.co.za/default.asp?blogname=. Next to this address are a few buttons, including the Compatibility button.
This is what it looks like:
Click the Compatibility View button (circled in red) to enable Compatibility View and you should be able to see the Reply Box again.
This is a temporary fix and we apologise for not being able to fix the problem properly until the new site is deployed. In the meantime, use this fix to post on the site.
Thanks for you patience and understanding - the wait for the new site will be well worth it. We promise. :)
