Idols 9 is down to only five contenders for the title and this week, at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria, the Top 5 will each perform two songs: a hit from the Nineties (90s) and a hit from the Naughties ('00s).
Brenden, who hit the Bottom 3 for the first time last week, chose to redeem himself with Usher’s “Nice And Slow” from the Nineties and “Jailer” from the Nigerian singer-songwriter Aṣa.
Bunny chose Robin S’s 1990 hit “Show Me Love” and a more recent local hit “Ndiredi” from Simphiwe Dana, as her two numbers.
Musa is going to “Bump And Grind” like R. Kelly back in the Nineties and for his Naughties hit he selected Dave Hollister’s “Can’t Stay”.
Sonke is covering The Fugees’ version of “Killing Me Softly” - which was a massive hit back in 1995 - and then he’ll go upbeat with Michael Bublé’s “Haven’t Met You Yet”.
Zoe is going old-school with the Janet Jackson classic “Together Again”, before rocking out with Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor”.
