With only three guys left to battle it out for South Africa’s top music prize, in this week’s Idols Spectacular at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria the Top 3 contestants get to perform three songs each: one chosen for each of them by the Idols judges, one by Idols Musical Director RJ Benjamin, and one song of their own choosing.
In alphabetical order: the judges chose Justin Bieber’s “Beauty and a Beat” for Brenden in the first round. RJ selected “Locked Out of Heaven” from Bruno Mars for him and Brenden’s own choice for the final round is Miguel’s “Do You”.
For the gentle giant from eMalahleni, Musa, the judges selected “Meropa”, a remix of an old Mahotella Queens song by Oskido and Brothers of Peace. RJ chose “Love” by Musiq Soulchild and Musa chose another local hit, “Inkomo”, by The Soil, for himself.
Sonke is singing “Turn Me On” from David Guetta, featuring Nicki Minaj, for the judges, DeBarge’s “Rhythm of the Night” for RJ and his own choice is the South African classic “Burn Out”, from Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse.
Tickets for the Top 3 Spectacular at the Moreleta Park Church Auditorium in Pretoria this Friday (15 November) are available now from Computicket and ticket sales for the big Finalé on Tuesday 26 November will open next Monday, 18 November.
