Wow - that could not have been more
intense. Even though there seemed to be quite some time between them at the end, Uchenna and Joyce and Rob and Amber's battle was soo neck-and-neck through it all it was enough to finish off every last bit of energy I had left in me!
By the end of it I was madly wanting Rob and Amber to win - espesh when Rob's head was bulging with veins in the final taxi trip and he kissed his St Christopher. In those moments he showed just how vulnerably real he is - every chirp had been raced out of him and he'd just saved Amber by carrying her so brilliantly.
I don't reckon any of it had to do with the money and that instead it was purely the idea of winning after racing - as he said - with every breath of his being.
Not that no-one else did - it's just that he took much more of everything generally, including loads of loathing as well as having every single racer hoping he and Amber didn't win.
I thought at least one of the teams could have been on their side more at the end - the Ray Pig doesn't count because of obvious reasons. Even if a team had just pretended it would have been nice not to have quite so much negative energy directed towards them, when each team had been so inspired by them.
As they came racing in second and the camera cut to Susan and Patrick - who unbelievably managed to get even more smackworthy! - I was hoping for just one look from a team that showed that deep down they were on their side.
No matter how buff and brazen and insensitively Rob comes across I don't believe that's how he truly is and even if he is, everyone has to have to at least a couple of peeps on their side, even if they're a millionnaire or whatever he and Amber are.
It's whacked, because they actually ended up being the underdogs of the competition from the very beginning as a direct result of everyone believing so strongly that they're the complete opposite.
I keep forgetting and every season it happens - I always think that the team that comes second wins $100 000 and wait for Phil to say it ..... but he never does.
The most hectic moment was when the pilot stopped the plane though - they were just so incredibly home and away they definitely would have won it if Joyce and Uchenna had been left behind.
Luck was on their side big time though, paying Joyce back for all her bald courage and the fact that her and Uchenna really are communicating differently from how they were at the beginning.
I'm not going to mention babies 'cos I had huge issues with how every chick in each of the three final teams had to go on about them being their topmost priority. How was Kelly thinking it's okay to take on the full stereotype of what being a typical woman is and suggesting she's the role model for every chick?!
Argh - thank you, thank God that they didn't win. Can you imagine anything more gruesome than it being right now and them being a million bucks richer?
Their sudden, super downfall was a mega advantage to Uchenna and Joyce in terms of catching up with Rob and Amber. When Uchenna and Joyce pennilessly raced ahead through Miami and winningly sprinted to the finish, I was very pleased for them.
Sad for Rob and Amber but also trippily happy for Joyce and Uchenna who are just so cool, fun and generally groovy it's totally impossible to be anti them in any way whatsoever.
Except for when they're trying to get money! The way Uchenna just sat down like that next to Joyce and didn't even try to do anything to stop her tears was too much. Through it all I kept wanting them to tell everyone they spoke to that they were racing for the final million and
had to have money and would write to them and return it when they got home.
Then I realised that perhaps they're not allowed to? I can't believe that I haven't wondered about or known anything about this before but perhaps it's a rule that they can't mention the race or promise to return the cash? If it wasn't it would be the perfect thing to do.
Not that they should have to go that far. How anyone in their right minds doesn’t realise that when a racing team of two come along and need money they're racing the Race. Imagine how you'd empty your wallet if they came to up to you and asked.
Urgh, that sourpuss at the airport was the worst example of someone who just doesn't get it. The way he said: "I'm just not that into it I'm afraid," was so horrible and filled with spoilsport I don't believe he could be even vaguely happy.
Same with that sweaty Pig who said that begging wasn't the way to do it - just before Joyce and Uchenna became millionaires. Nothing would make me happier than if he watched the episode to see just how appalling he is.
It's like only the biggest show in the world yet he wouldn't help the racers - imagine what he's like when there are no cameras!
Uchenna and Joyce should never have apologised for collecting the money the way they did. Instead they should have made it so that it was impossible for people to say no by having the biggest chortle about it and not taking no for an answer.
You know, I never had a thing about not wanting to ask anyone for anything or not wanting to impose on someone by inconveniencing them, but more and more I've realised that it's not as honest.
They really, really needed that money so if they'd carried the tone in their voice that weren't gonna take no for an answer (inspired by the feeling that they simply couldn't) I defs reckon they would have come out of it all without Joyce ending up as upset as she was.
The combo of nerves and exhaustion made it all more intense for them too and perhaps Uchenna's plonking himself down had to do with this. Like he was thinking: "This is the last thing in the entire world I feel like doing right now."
They did it though and they even managed to budget right up until the very end. When they got into that final taxi I really wanted to know how much they had, particularly when they didn't even question how much it was gonna be.
That's another thing I've discovered that works quite well too - when you're overly concerned about the price of something it seems to work out to be more pricey than when you're not.
Not that Uchenna and Joyce are going to need to be stressing about this now that they've got mega bucks. As the Bitches said - they'll never feel the feeling they had at the end of the race ever again.
I definitely reckon they're going to be very happy - both together and generally - and that the Race is what will have made them so. Rob and Amber didn't really need that, giving a final kiss in the same way as they have from the start.
It's been a really incredible season hasn't it? There have just been soo many juicy emotions and ways of looking at things - like the Lesbo's holding hands. Did you see that? I would have loved them to have stayed longer just to do more of that so that I could work out whether it's something they've carefully planned or if they really do just hold hands like that.
Seeing the rest of them waiting, with what looked like one leg in front of the other as if starting the race - is that my imagination or did it really happen? Hehe - they were hysterical.
What was with the Brothers' new trailer trash look? As I mentioned Susan and Patty were worse than I remembered them and the hick dudes and Meredith and Gretchen looked exactly the same.
I just wish they had something extra afterwards to extend it and draw it all out more. It's like it finishes, you've got all these emotions ..... and that's it. I'd love it if they spoke about things as they do in Survivor to give us the time to mourn and accept that it's over.
Thankfully the therapy for the trauma is that Survivor Guatemala is but one week away. Please keep your peepers peeled on TT for juicy news all about it before it starts.
In the meantime though, we'll have a few quiet moments for TAR. How whacked is it that TV can be sooo spiritual?
Many congratulations ot Uchenna and Joyce! Goodbyeee, sweet Amazing Race.
