Day 5: The Big Brother Women

30 May 2003It's kinda the end of the first week of Big Brother and the jacuzzi is very, very green. Can anybody tell me what the Big Brother housemates actually do in the thing?

Every year it's the same. Housemates stewing in gross, snotty-looking water. Is it the housemates or a jacuzzi thing? I've always wanted a jacuzzi, but now I'm not so sure. At least this lot spent Thursday evening giving it a clean.

In fact, have you noticed how spick and span the entire place is in comparison with last years lot? They completely and utterly put them to shame! And so easily too. Zein said he is a neatness freak and it seems the rest are too, because I haven't yet heard anyone complain about mess, dirt and stuff. Only a few discussions about those who aren't washing dishes. Obviously.

And of course discussions about eggs, eggs and eggs - the main sensational drama of the show so far. Crikey. What never ceases to amaze me is how obsessed with food the housemates become. These peeps have three full meals day. Full meals. Do they do this at home? Do you?

Every year it's the same - everyone chows down BigTime. Of course the reason is because mealtimes give order to your a day, don't they? It's kinda like marking time. In fact Thursday actually saw the housemates making a sundial to give themselves a sense of the time. Isn't it weirdy how important knowing time is?

And what's up with the cards? I thought playing cards was a mega no-no in the Big Brother house. But there seem to be millions of packs and the housemates seem to be clutching them in order escape from each other at times. Not Abby though. No ways hosays. Abby spends her time being massaged by the men. She is really starting to get on my tits.

She's the sort who gets touchy-feely with men under the guise that it's just a 'friendship' thing. The sort who wraps their arms around men when having a supposedly regular conversation. The sort who snuggles up to men in their sleep and doesn't think they get a hard-on, although she knows they do.

Don't tell me that Abby's touchy-feely personality is about 'being friends', because she doesn't do this stuff with the women.

Some might say: "Oh, you're just jealous Tashi, you pig," but I tell you it's not that. It's that I find this type of behaviour so false. So filled with 'something else'. So intended to put other women 'down' and to attempt to manipulate men. It comes naturally to many women and I suspect it comes naturally to her, ie. it's not a planned part of her strategy.

Speaking of women, my favourite chickie in the house has to be Cherise. She seems to be genuinely, genuinely cool and groovy without being a bore. That said, her voice may be starting to piss some housemates off. Gaetano actually mentioned it in the diary room - when he described her as being really 'loud'. This could, unfortunately, work against her.

Warona is nice too but perhaps is little too 'mature'. A little too 'stable' perhaps? It turns out Tapuwa is very religious. A Christian of Note. At least she's not preaching and stuff. And Bruna? The small, white-costumed singer? Well, she's definitely taking the most strain. I have hardly heard her say a word. Interestingly enough in her diary room session she said that she was having difficulty making herself understood.

She explained that she thinks in Portuguese and despite her English being very good she said she struggled to say exactly what she means. I always find it interesting what language peeps think in. Every language has it's own concepts and stuff, so when you're communicating in a different language it's very hard to always accurately refine exactly what you mean.

So yeah, the first week is over and it's time to make some choices about who you like. My current favourite lady is definitely Cherise. My least favourite lady has to be Abby.
