Michael’s plans have gone askew and he is now saddled with a weirdy cellmate called Haywire. (And he looks it too)
I am really curious to see how he’s going to dig himself out of this one.
Episode 3 starts where we left off last week; in the shed with Abruzzi, his henchmen and Michael - minus 2 of his toes.
As some of the guards carry Michael off to the infirmary, Bellick confronts Abruzzi about what had happened. He had given Michael to them and he knows that there could be an inquiry as to what had happened and he gets touchy when Dr. Sara Tancredi suggests an Internal Affairs investigation.
Michael, in the meanwhile, has been cleansed and wrapped by the good doctor herself.
I don’t know about you guys, but when he started crying... I felt his pain.
Sara questions him about what happened but he just replies that he doesn’t want to lie to her. What I am curious about is that she’s not worried about his wound more. He’s diabetic and I know that they usually need special antibiotics as they don’t heal as fast, so shouldn’t she be taking extra precautions?
When Lincoln hears what happened to Michael, he’s really angry and threatens to kill Abruzzi. (Why not? He’s on death row anyway)
Michael, though, says that they need him.
Abruzzi owns a charter flight business and he can organize a plane for them to use after their escape.
Lincoln is also worried about Sucre, but Michael says he is a vital part of his escape. As his cellmate, Sucre will be aware of his movements, and if Michael wants to dig his way out of there, Sucre will have to keep his mouth firmly shut.
Talking of Sucre, he is finally released from the SHU and he immediately calls his fiancé, Maricruz, who is possibly with Hector. He goes crazy with the thought and is upset when Maricruz’s mum says that if he really loves her, he would let her live her life.
Back in their cell, as Sucre is staring at a pic of Maricruz, Michael is thinking back.
He flashes back to his “drawing board” .I mentioned previously that his wall was full of pics and clippings but I didn’t realize just how HUGE that wall was.
Anyway, they focus on the words “Cell Test” and as Michael is brought back to reality we see a cell phone in his hand. (Hmmm cell phone, cell mate? Could there be a connection here?) Methinks it looks like a Nokia, though I can be wrong.
T-Bag is looking for revenge and he doesn’t just want to kill, he wants to cause some major pain & suffering too. He gets his hands on a knife with jagged edges, which they call The Gutter. Because u can literally use it to take somebody’s guts out.
Meanwhile, LJ (Lincoln’s Son) and Lisa are meeting with LJ’s probation officer.
As punishment for trying to deal drugs, he has to check in with her once a week and he also has to sign up for the Saturday Sacred Straight at Fox River Pen.
LJ looks extremely unimpressed when his PO tells him that his father will be his mentor while he is there.
Michael & Sucre are in the laundry room, doing some P.I. duty.
Sucre sees Michael take a cell phone out of his pocket, wrap it in some cloth and stash it in an electric box.
Sucre goes crazy and tells Michael that he’ll get 2 years added on to his sentence for having a phone but Mike reckons he can now make calls whenever he wants. Sucre suddenly looks interested but Michael tells him to forget he ever saw it.
After seeing Sucre talking to his cronies about some phone, Lincoln decides to swap some information for extra freedom.
In return for telling Bellick who has a cell phone on the premises, he is allowed an extra half hour outside each week.
He fingers Sucre and Sucre is called in for a talk with Bellick.
Bellick uses Sucre’s conjugal visits as leverage, and threatens to have them revoked if Sucre doesn’t show him where the cell phone is.
Veronica’s investigation has brought her to Leticia’s apartment and when she gets there, she sees the door slightly ajar.
She thinks that something has already happened to Leticia (in all honesty, so did I)
But Leticia is fine, except she has a gun pointed at Veronica, and accuses her of working with the Government.
Vanessa assures Leticia that all she has to do is give her a sworn statement and then she would be free to go.
She eventually agrees to go with Veronica to her office to give her statement.
Leticia tells Veronica about a man in a white cap that came to the house to visit Crab just before the murder. (the one Lincoln was supposed to commit)
This guy had paid off Lincoln’s debt to Crab.
So I’m trying to piece this together:
Crab is a drug dealer.
Lincoln owed Crab ninety thousand US dollars.
Just what was Lincoln into?
Leticia says that the man in the white hat went outside to speak to his associates and they looked like they were untouchable. In a flashback we see that the two associates are none other than the 2 secret service guys, Kellerman and Hale.
Abruzzi gets another visit from Falzone.
Falzone is not pleased that Abruzzi has still not managed to find out the whereabouts of Fibonacci.
Even the sight of Michael’s toes does not impress him and in order to bring across his point more strongly to Abruzzi, he brings in the heavies.
He has brought along Abruzzi’s kids.
He also lets Abruzzi know that the kids will be staying with him for a while, which means that ANYTHING can happen to them ANYTIME.
Abruzzi then decides to use different tactics on Michael; he reckons maybe the Beatles were right, maybe all you need IS love.
He even manages to calm T-Bag down by telling him they both want the same thing: MICHAEL.
When Michael is confronted by Abruzzi et al, T-Bag tries to knife him with The Gutter (not before threatening to light up Michael’s leather… does that mean what I think it does?)
Abruzzi is having none of that though, and before you know it, he has elbowed T-Bag in the nose his henchmen are taking turns beating the daylights out of him.
Michael is led off by Abruzzi who says that maybe he handled things the wrong way. SURE, cut off his toes and regret it afterward.
Michael needs him though, so he accepts the roundabout apology and tells Abruzzi what he needs from him. He clearly doesn’t trust Abruzzi completely as he doesn’t tell him the exact details of the escape.
He does promise, however, that Abruzzi will know before Fibonacci goes to trial to testify.
Sucre has refused to give Bellick any info and tells Michael in return he wants to be able to use his phone.
Michael breaks the phone in half.
Sucre is pissed off when he finds out the phone is made of soap and that it was all a test. He has lost his conjugal rights and for what?
He is not interested in trying to escape as he only has 16 months left to serve and if he’s caught he would be in for another 5 years.
He wants nothing to do with the escape so he asks to be moved out of the cell.
While Veronica was busy taking down Leticia’s statement, Leticia goes for a smoke. Instead of Leticia returning though, Kellerman walks into Veronica’s office and asks her some questions.
When he leaves, she immediately checks to see where Leticia is and finds that she is missing.
Veronica is so busy looking for Leticia that she misses an appointment with her fiancé and is also late for a dinner date with him. He asks her whether or not she wants to go through with the wedding and she says she wants to postpone it.
Sebastian (the fiancé) says that if she wants to postpone the wedding, then he will call it off completely, I think he senses that she still has feelings for Lincoln, because why else would she be working so hard to get him out.
As the time draws closer for Lincoln, they start preparing him for his death. Warden Pope is concerned that Lincoln has not requested that any family member be present at his execution.
He is worried that, when the time comes, Lincoln will regret his decision. Even a Reverend speaks to Michael and asks if Michael wants the last person he sees to be a stranger.
Lincoln then gets a visit from LJ. It gets very touching when he asks LJ to touch his hand through the bars. He tells him that he wants him to be there the day before he dies and he also tells LJ that he loves him and always has. A very emotional LJ says that he doesn’t know how to handle it.
Just as Michael is trying to use the allen wrench to dismantle the toilet in his cell, Bellick throws open the cell doors and introduces Michael to his new cell mate, whose name most definitely describes him – Haywire.
Michael is warned not to make eye contact with him and with Haywire looking all weirdy, I can’t see how Michael is going to have problem with that.
Outside Michael talks to Lincoln about the latest developments and says that they are already 3 days behind schedule, which is not a good thing because the margin for error is zero days.
Hale & Kellerman have driven to a deserted spot and free Leticia from the trunk. Hale takes her into the woods to kill her but you can see that it is against his will. Leticia manages to run off but OBVIOUSLY trips and falls.
She begs Hale to free her and just when it looks he’s going to soften we hear a gunshot. It is Kellerman, however, who has fired the fatal bullet and Leticia lays sprawled on the forest floor.
Back in his cell Michael waits till he thinks Haywire is asleep. He begins using the allen wrench on the toilet again He turns around because he feels someone watching him and Haywire is staring at him.
Here I have visions of Haywire going haywire because Michael is looking directly into his eyes.
Mike asks him what his problem is and Haywire says that he has neurosomething or the other affecting his reticular activating system.
When Michael asks what it means, he answers
”it means I don’t sleep. At All’
In other words. Michael is about as screwed as that bolt he’s trying to undo.
So, will Michael be able to convince Haywire to go along with
their plan?
Does Abruzzi have something up his sleeve?
AND WHAT IS THE MASTER PLAN????
I suppose we have to wait for next week to see.
