EPISODE 2
Who? Where? Were Megan and Heidi actually in the Race before getting whacked? I've totally forgotten about them already because not for one moment did I have the first clue which was Megan and which was Heidi.
The Barbie's elimination was so perfectly perfect I couldn't need nor want anything more and was delighted when they lost the final sprint to Brian and Greg.
I was also very relieved for the Stackamatic Brothers because the blondes weren't good for them and were possibly even dangerous. That grimace Megan gave to Brian in the bus was seriously creepy and it was very thicko of them not to see it.
Not that I know Brian was the one she smiled at because as yet I also can't tell them apart either. They're weirdy, aren't they? It's like in one moment they're really sexy and in another they're puffy and need to brush their teeth. I like them because of it though and wouldn't if they were only the first.
It was such a groovy episode - my fave out of everything was Rob's wink to the camera, which finished me up completely. Everything about it summed up exactly who he is and is exactly the reason you'd either love him or loathe him.
The only sucky thing about it was that my other two faves were on the receiving end of his trickery and I wished Debbie and Bianca had just sort of stayed uninvolved. Still, the fab thing about it is that it shows just how gutsy they are, because they weren't intimidated by confronting Rob at all.
As much as I like this about them I wasn't on their side during any of it because they were taking Rob way too seriously and were also sticking their noses into his and Amber's business. He wasn't under any obligation to tell them anything and the fact that he thought about getting the security dude to lie instead of them is just the way it was.
As for Amber's role in it all – she was hysterical while she was standing next to him, tugging at his sleeve. You could see she was enjoying every moment of what he was up to but was also stressed that everyone else wasn't.
She obviously spoke some sense into him in their first moments alone together and at first I was iffy when she said Rob was in charge. I felt that yet again she'd handed her power over to him as she did in Survivor. But then - as they went on and her and Rob got faster and slicker and won - it didn't matter.
They really did do everything together. The best was that they beat Ron and Kelly who were very horrible in how much ground they made up. I don't actually know how they did it because when they got to the finish line and congratulated one another it was more of a wrestling match than them being happy together.
I had previously thought that I loathed him more than her but it's changed, because at least Ron knows he's a greedy, down-and-dirty type of person and admits to it - whereas Kelly's just never gonna say anything iffy about herself.
Actually, you know, now that I think of it - I'm getting very tired of all these men in the race that bully their women team-mates around and do it with such pride. Time and again it's as if they know precisely how nasty they are and see it as a good thing that doesn't need to be changed.
Ray himself proudly admitted that he doesn't see Deana as a person but rather as window dressing and that for his perception to change it's her who needs to get with his programme.
I can't stand her either because she's whiney and is defs the type of person who says "I can't", but still - he's just such a bully he obviously has something to do with her thinking she's useless.
Unlike the Barbies, who have each other. They were just so pathetic with the fuss they made about the fish that it seemed to make it mean nothing. Like hello - if you think you can't carry a fish then discover you can, it's not something to get excited about.
Nevertheless they had the right idea, in the same way Bianca and Debbie do.
These two are full of confidence and interesting Spanishy words and I loved when they said they were crazy needing to go so fast. There was just something about it that makes me really want to see them doing well and while they lost their first place position their sixth place wasn't a disaster.
Their choosing to pack the books in the Detour was also a groovy choice, made more so in comparison with how ridiculous Susan and Patrick's choice was. The very reason they had trouble with the funicular was because they'd run out of money - and then they ended up choosing to go shopping!
I couldn't actually believe it when Susan said that's what they'd do - if you ask me she could actually be Patrick's daughter, which is very scary.
Speaking of funiculars – how's those things for suddenly becoming a something with TAR? I never knew such things existed before – I always thought they were called cable cars.
Funicular is a perfect name and it's obviously a very peaceful thing to do – just as long as you don't have Gretchen's voice shrieking in the background when you arrive. She's driving me round the bend with all her minooting because she really isn't quiet for one single second and also keeps telling people how they should feel and what they should do.
All this made her extra hysterical during the shoe shine though, when she kept telling everyone how brilliantly their shoes were polished after she'd completely blackened their socks.
Despite the annoyance of her shrieking the two of them were very surprising as their slow-pokeness got speedier, resulting in a seventh-position finish.
Also moving up through the ranks were Joyce and Uchenna, who managed to finish fourth despite Joyce's break-down during the shoeshine. Her not moving from the spot and calling for people to help her was ridiculous. She'd started out fine but suddenly it seemed as if she didn't want to approach anyone.
Luckily for them it didn't affect their race too much and at the finish I was chortling away at Uchenna. As Phil told them that they'd come in fourth Uchenna whooped as if he wasn't sure it was the right response. How exactly do you respond to coming fourth? It's such an in between, neither here nor there position, yet when you've moved up through the ranks it's a bonus - how exciting is that exactly?
As exciting as the fact that the Barbies are gone? Never. I just hope that Brian and Greg don't hear from them ever again.
