I love sitcoms. My fave at the moment is Malcom in the middle , Jake in progress- came to an end last week unfortunately . I also love it when a good character splits from a good sitcom and has their show. This can work seriously well as “Frasier” has shown. There are times, however when the results are disappointing.” life with fran” is one such disappointment. She wa not amusing as the Nanny. That sitcom grew old on me and pretty soon I just could not stand her voice.
When her new show "life with Fran" started yesterday I gave it a shot. It was a disaster. What gabbage.
The acting seems contrived and over the top. It was watching a bollywood are Nollywwod movie. Loads of shouting and exaggerated acting. It did to help that Fran still did the voice from the nanny. I really hate that voice. I had try and wrap my head around the fact that she was now a mother of two big teenagers and a divorcee both new developments completely at odds with her character in the nanny. The confusing thing was she still behaved as she did in the nanny. I just found it all such a twadlle
There is nothing I hate more than not getting lost in the storyline of a sitcom. If I don’t find it funny I would rather not watch because the canned laughter becomes a distraction. The more they laugh the less funny the story line and the more irritating it is for me. Why oh why are sitcoms so fond of the background laughter. What is the role of the laughter really. If its funny you would know that it is funny without some idiots laughing in the background.
Well my “feet up Monday” on Sabc3 has been ruined by the addition of this twaddle. I will however give “life with Fran” one more try if I does not work for me next week I am off to another channel. Which is really irritating as it means I will have to find another 30 minute fun filler for this spot.
Does anyone know if the americans loved "life with fran"?
