The Metro FM Music Awards 12 (MMA12) never disappointed and treated us like royalty from the word go right through the ceremony until we came back to Joburg.
As celebrities arrived on the black carpet, it was like the Indian Ocean was spitting them out above sea level or on to the beach, whatever works for you.

The weekend started on a very high note as we left Auckland Park in the “Media Bus” which was more greater than the one the artists had in terms of hospitality and vibe.
Olwethu
It was very clear Metro FM puts the media first above celebrities. Y’all know the media never keeps quiet when things are wrong. Apparently artists wanted to have their own bus because we media people were reportedly gonna pry on their conversations and next thing we write about it. Yeah right, some of them got bored in their bus and came onto the media bus.
I mean, who wouldn’t wanna be with us if you have the likes of the hilarious Mablerh, Mika and Olwethu (10/10 judge) in our midst. Shim niggers are entertainment and funny enough to upstage The Late Night News With Loyiso Gola.
Lloyd Cele and wifey
On Friday night, we ditched the Metro FM pre-party and went to Mafikizolo’s album launch downtown Durban at Dj Tira’s joint called Uber Zulu situated further down Florida Road.
Phat Joe
Bobo with Fiance Thembi and Boom Shaka member Theo. The loverbirds refused to take a pic as the two of them only and Thembi said, "It's fine". Talk about not wanting to be photographed together.
We had tons of fun at the Mafikizolo album launch. Well, that’s an article for a little later altogether.
Simphiwe Dana
Sponono and Makisto
Between swimming and getting a tour of the city from Durban-based TVSA blogger Sponono and getting ready for the awards, I wanted to spy on them celebs at the hotel but I realised I should just have a ball and let them be.
Muvhango’s Simphiwe Mkhize (Thuli) and Generations’ Zenade Mafenya (Noluntu) were first to arrive on the clack carpet.
The spectators wished they were the soapie belles as they screamed out loudly such that my eardrums nearly got affected. Tjo, Durbanites though.
Mina I saw the Vuzu what what guy and Selimanthunzi’s Zizo Beda and Lunga Shabalala almost fighting over celebs or interviewing them thereof.
Then there was Miss Dineo Ranaka who looked drop dead gorgeous in a red min-number. You could swear she doesn’t have two babies. Keep on looking hawt Dinny!
The Jaziel Borthers who just released a new album late last year also showed face. The siblings had the spectators eating from their palm of their hands as spectators screamed and shouted.
Dj Zinhle
Causing more noise was the arrival of Generations’ Melusi Yeni (Phenyo) who proved to be more popular among the ladies. I still cannot get what the noise about him is all about though.
Khaya Mthethwa charmed both media and spectators as photographers and presenters went all gangster trying to snap and interview him respectively. Such bullying though!
Yini with Cama Gwini not smiling even a little when she walked down black carpet though? Yazi shame, if I wasn’t at the awards and met her only on the streets, I swear I would run away. But I could gather behind that tough façade there is a loving person. That was proved when she, her friend and I were the only three people to leave the after party and go back to the hotel by the Metro FM bus. She was nice to me and we spoke and all. She is a lovely person!
Joburg gays, consisting of Aaron Moloisi, Linda Moeketsi and their peeps were all groupie groupie and really gave me my best shot for the night.
Can I just state that Zonke Dikana is one sexy lady whose face is totally flawless? I am still surprised she doesn’t have any beauty products endorsement. Phela she is a marketer’s dream!
Phila Madlingozi of the Intersexions fame arrived hand in hand with his onscreen girlfriend from rural Eastern Cape and the pair dazzled for the media on the black carpet.
Glam ladies
Talent search winners Lootlove and Nomuzi Mabena arrived together. Nomuzi won the MTV Base thingie! Kodwa Lootlove is so tall she should also consider a career as a model on the ramp.
From one talent search winner to another, Minnie Dlamini has come a long way since her role as tweets receptionist on Live to starring in The Wild, having endorsements and getting a slot on Metro FM. Intombi yo Mzulu changed outfits as if she was throwing away non-sweet chewing gums.
The back of Minnie’s mermaid dress.
“Thanks Lootlove! Moving on to bigger things” (Side eyes to Bonang), immediately after the event as I snapped winners and their little statuettes, mina I overheard Sophie Ndaba being all diva. “Are we gonna go to the after party in there with everyone that’s anyone?” Now that I am writing this, I never saw her at the after party yazi.
My hometown girl Candy who won song of the year with Oskido was so happy to hear I speak the same language as her and I was equally happy to finally meet her. I am her groupie by the virtue of her being my home girl. We spoke khelobedu throughout our convo it was so cool.
Ephraim Molingoana
Everything about the event was so well coordinated, from logistics to production! The whole shebang was an affair that one could tell a lot of effort went into it. Metro FM did not leave anything to chance.
