Seputla Sebogodi (Kenneth Mashaba) is set to leave local soapie Generations and will last be seen on screen at the end of August 2011. This comes after Connie Ferguson who played Karabo Moroka for just a little over 16 years, left the show last year, followed by Siya Twala who left the show just recently.
Goodbye Kenneth
Seputla played the caharacter of villainous Kenneth with distinction and viewers could be forgiven for thiking Seputla is just like Kenneth. After all, it isn't everyday that you have such a great actor who puts so much effort into making a character believable without making it look like it takes an effort to do so.
Seputla first appeared in Generations in 2005 alongside Katlego Danke who played his trophy Dineo. Dineo has since gone to prove her mettle in the boardroom and ditched her trophy wife titled, leaving Kenneth devastated. Kenneth told Drum magazine back in 2005 that he practically begged to play the role. "I begged the producers to write me in and I had a number of ideas about how the character should be," he told Drum magazine.
Makisto's sources say Seputla has lost some weight. Another source states that they overheard him making jokes with another local soapie about wanting to join their cast.
Tonight reports that it is Seputla's decision to leave the soapie. “I’m going to do some industrial theatre and road shows. I am also doing the Grahamstown National Arts Festival. Right now I just want to take a break from TV. Sometimes you need to sit on the backseat and watch others in the driver’s seat," Seputla told the Tonight.

Tonight continues to report that, [Generations] head writer Chris Blomkamp enlightens on their plans for Dineo. “By the time Paul and Kenneth have left Dineo’s life for good, Dineo will realise she is a Mashaba by name only. Kenneth and Paul’s departure will cause Dineo to stop and take stock of her life. On a journey of self-discovery, she returns to the past for answers and, the more she digs, the more she realises she may have opened a can of worms.”
Seputla also has a career in the gospel music industry though Makisto isn't sure about his musical abilities
On how Kenneth will be written out of the top soapie (The show has over 4 million daily viewers), Chris told the Tonight, “Kenneth is such a well-loved character, it would be ‘suicide’ to get rid of him. So no coffins or shootings. The opportunity will always exist for him to return. What we can say is that Kenneth may finally get what’s long been coming to him.”

Seputla first became a much-loved actor in the early '90s in the local Pedi drama Bophelo Ke Semphekgo playing the role of womanising Nkwesheng. The show was so popular such that a well known musician back in the day wrote a song about Nkusheng and it became a hit a tarvens and shebeens.
