Zola 7 gets the chop

Fired Zola runs back to Soweto

I want to congratulate the SABC for making a bold decision by canning the Zola 7 show. The move was long overdue and it’s actually surprising that they have waited for Cell C to first be the courageous party to fire Zola aka Bonginkosi Dlamini and his Hola 7 starter packs. I’ve never been a fan of Zola and didn’t like the guy when he first burst on the scene despite the popular public liking of the guy.
Zola is being accused of being a callous women beater, a cheater, not paying his many children’s maintenance and being a wolf in sheep’s clothes.
Zola would often get preachy on his show and go on and on about how wrong it is to beat a woman and in his own words would often say, “no matter what a woman does, nothing justifies beating her up”. So much for his statements on TV, he actually is the one who was beating women as soon as cameras stopped rolling. I have long stopped watching his TV show because I can’t afford to have a pastor who tells me it isn’t right to drink booze whereas he’s always drunk.

Did SABC 1 just say my show is canned?
The concept of his show is crucial and will remain relevant. What needs to be done right now is replace Zola’s show with someone who is already a positive role model to the youth. We are speaking about the likes of Lira or Loyiso Bala. Someone who has no dodgy personality like Zola does. Lira and Loyiso are two people who resonate with us as the youth and are relevant to SABC1 viewers. It is undeniable that it is South Africans who will suffer because of Zola 7’s canning but the move has become inevitable, hence I suggest a positive role model come up with a show of similar genre and goal.

Bustards! My countless shag buddies, tell me who will pay the maintainence now?
One can only wonder if anyone in their right frame of mind would actually go into a store and buy his latest CD, titled Imphepho. It isn’t clear whether South Africans may take a moral standing by not supporting such a disgrace to South African music industry. I for one, will not buy his album.

Zola at the prime of his success can be seen here contemplating his womanising ways!
It’s actually sickening that magazines such as Drum and Move!, which have been on Zola’s side all these time despite damning evidence against him, stood by him and I remember Move! putting words in his mouth by having a cover with him that screamed: “I’m not a polygamist, deal with it” following a Sunday World headline that said: I’m a polygamist, deal with it. Drum exaggerated his role model status by writing over two covers stories on him each year. Eventually, both the magazines saw the light and exposed him for who he really is and he dealt them a raw deal by doing cover stories with them that were published in the same week. I’m pretty sure their sales took a knock because the publications lacked variety.
Back to dustbins of Soweto Zola!

@pelepele - The story might be old and tired to you but it might be interesting to other people so if you don't like it just don't comment.

Zola made his bed he must now lie in it and be comfortable.  I used to like zola a lot.  He was hope for other people that no matter where you come from you can make something out of your life but I think the fame and money got to him and  he thought he's invinsible.
