The MTV Africa Music Awards nomination announcement party was the place to be on Wednesday evening ... All the regulars and the "exclusive" celebs, showed face. Let's not forget the Muvhango, iSibaya and Zabalaza Cast. Oh... plus the comedians and models ... And of course
Segololo and I.
So you get the drift - eeerbuddy was there. That was not entirely good news for us, because parking became a nightmare. Those that know the venue, know that The Sands has a parking issue in general, but on this particular night it was worse.
After getting over the trauma of finding parking, we walked into a stellar Deco inside the venue. Whoever came up with that set-up should be given a bells.
The performances of the night were on point and boy did we Tjukutja in that cold Jozi weather.
But I gotta be honest, I barely heard the announcement of the nominees. No... it had nothing to do with technical glitches, but rather an unwelcoming and disturbing sight...
MTVBase's Nomuzi, committed the BIGGEST fashion faux paux of the season. As the co-host on the night, that outfit hurt our eyes and... emotions. Yo, maybe that's why people showed no interest and spoke throughout the night, not paying attention to the hosts. She's such a great chick, but that outfit was really unkind to her.
Whilst on fashion, nothing could make the night go south like spotting someone else wearing the same outfit as you. Thank heavens both ladies looked good in the dress. So, I'll put it out to you to decide, who wore it best?
As I mentioned that the soapie stars came out to play and the new Club 808 presenter, Nonhle Thema graced the event. Regardless of her drama, this chick is still banging hot.
Still on soapies, was one of my favourite isiBaya actresses, Celeste. I digg this hardcore woman and her sense of humour. Oh, I forget that she's in fact a comedian.
Another comedian I barely see out and about is the ever hilarious Joey Rasdien.
Can we all have a moment for Tim's endless dreads. Honestly though, how does he get by the day with such long dreads?
Mafikizolo must be the group of the moment. They perform at almost every single event I've been to, since the beginning of the year. Big Ups to them and all the $$$ they are making.
I am so in love with Dj Clock's song Pluto featuring Beatenberg. Great performance too.
One of the killa performances of the night was definitely Nigeria's Burna Boy. I have never heard of him, but I tripped and fell in love with his uber performance.
I know they are grown and all ... but these twins are so nunus.
Oh, but nothing could outdo the performance of the night, which was a collabo of Angola's Yuri Da Cuncha and South Africa's Uhuru. As you may or may not know, Ytjukutja is a remix of the original Atchu Tchutcha.
Now we can't wait for the MAMA's taking place in Durban in June... WOWZA!
