Idols Top 6: Shekhinah's curtain fall

Sweet Lawd Geezus! How bitterly unpredictable was the elimination show last night? The shock drove my jaw straight to the ground! If you are still in the dark about what I’m nit-picking about, it’s the Shekinah exit! I for one thought Sheki was one of the contestants who deserved the “save”. Now the question remains, who are they saving “The golden save” for? Khaya? Like he’s gonna ever need it after the hype built up around him…

On the extravagant-dance Showstopper night, Sheki delivered a not-so-bad rendition of Britney Spears’ “Til the world end” which looked to me like a license for her to the Top 5. Boy was I wrong. Am I the only one who’s sad about the judges not using the save? Especially since they have until next week to use it – apparently the “Golden Judges’ save” only lasts until the Top 4.

On Sunday the Top 6 pulled their last muscles when they each took to the stage with dancers. The standard was set so high that it was utterly impossible to predict who would go home.

After Monde’s jumpy rendition of Usher’ “Scream” I started questioning his presence next this week and I wasn’t shocked to see him in the bottom 2.

Tshidi’s interpretation of ‘Crazy in love’ was fresh and not exaggerated; she literally took over the song.

Melissa doing Rihanna’s “Where have you been” like she penned it was just remarkable. I knew the minute she finished that she is not going anywhere.

Khaya’s wicked vocally-slaughtered execution of Neyo-Kerri Hilson “Knock you down” knocked me down for real and for once I considered casting a vote for him.

Simphiwe dropped the ball with Chris Brown’s “Turn up the music”. Personally it was standard and got me worried about his safety. All in all they all pulled the stops!

Some of the interesting faces I spotted at the show include Idols’ alumni Noluthando Meje who spotted a yellow mini dress. Gurl looked yum! Her current song ”Feelings” with some DJ is enjoying a lot of airplay.

Last year’s Top 6 contestant Kelly Fortuin who got saved in the Top 8 level was there looking fab too. Glad she hasn’t disappeared after her exit. She’s had 2 of her tracks played on 5fm too.

In a Rolling Stone theme, the Top 5 take-on two songs each on Idols next week Sunday. Recharge your phones and ready your thumbs to save your best…

Did you want Sheki to go?
Did you vote for her?
Who do you want gone next week?
Vote Vote Vote!!!

Mellisa is not vocally stronger than Shekinah i 4 one wanted her gone, she's sexy all and pulled a great perfomance on sunaday bt im nt convinced. Shekinah most definately deserved a save im still shocked. however im sure Randall will secure her a contract at Universal music coz shes on a league of her own.
Monde- was better vocally and the perfomance on sunday than Simphiwe
Khaya- we can never find fault in his vocal ability and he knws wat works for him
Tshidi pulled a great show on sunday..

Tshidi and Khaya will  go to the finals however thier voices arent unique and a lot of ppl sound like them so, lets hope they sell records in the future coz competition doesnt end with Idols its only a stepping  stone!!1

Shekinah you are borm a star this is the beggining of great things 4 u.

After all Unathi and Gareth out-voted Randall on ur save that im sure of!!

Good thing she is gone now this is really Khaya's competition to lose and people can stop the hype about Shekhinah

I just hope they are not keeping that save for Melissa, her voice is weak and when she hits the high notes her voice just cracks

Totally saw it coming, this show loves drama. they wnated to leave us with the reactions we have now, look and the Josslynn and that other chick bomb last year, left us all with our jaws hanging. they had to cut Shaki, they know she is young and still has more opportunities to come, she got the exposure, probably has a record deal waiting for her already.

Shekhinah did not deserve to go home! I'm so bitter about it. I always said the real competition will start when Shimpiwe,Tshidi,Khaya and Shekhinah are in the top4. They are amazing vocals she really did not deserve this. I'm absolutely in awe that the judges did not use the save. I honestly don't get it. Bonang tweeted mb they voted her out because she's got pre-lim exams coming up but then again in America there was Jessica Shanchez who was also like very young! And they saved her and she went to the top2 and I can't believe they didn't save her. It was so wrong. Monde honestly has to go home.

Frankly I have been bored the last few weeks. The vocal performances this Sunday were awful (except for Tshidi and Khaya). Melissa stays on because she is a good performer and looks like a Pussycat Doll. I am not surprised. And while Shekinah has some weeks been among the best - this week she sounded abysmal - so really no surprises. That said Monde should go next and Tshidi for the win.

Sheki needed to go home and concentrate on finishing her matric!

If you want a contestant to stay in the show and ultimately win....voting is the way to go!

Shekinah wasnt good on sunday, so was Melissa and Simphiwe. The public votes let her down! she can go back and finish matric. Taz the judges cant use their vote in the top 4, so it means next week whoever gets the least votes  isnt  leaving thereafter its self sien..
