Apparently last night Isidingo’s set caught fire and was burnt down. No one got injured. According to Chriselda Lewis, SABC news reporter, the damages are estimated to be R100 million.

Check her tweets.......

Shame this is bad for Isidingo and the SABC especially since we know SABC’s financial problems. We can only hope the damages get sorted as soon as possible for the actors to be back on set before Isidingo runs out of episodes.

I wonder if this won’t affect the actors financially because I think this might cause them to be out of work for a few months which means no salary for them for those months akere for them it’s a situation of no work, no pay regardless of the circumstances? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I think it’s gonna take them quite some time to get back all the sets that the soap needs to shoot its episodes. I wonder how long it will take for them to get back on their feet again.

Eish, I can’t imagine how the Isidingo people and the SABC must be feeling right now because this is not just a small-alanyana problem it’s a big set back to them.

Strength to you all we hope for a soon recovery. We will keep watching Isidingo ….

Lala ngoxolo Isidingo’s set we will miss you :-(

I wonder what caused the fire bathong, yoh I hope it's not because of some evil human being ...

Apparently the whole thing was set to be shown on Morning Live this morning. Did they show it? What did they say? Fill us in tu .......

@qaqamba it's Cherel and Keene. The smoke screens that they've been creating finally turned into fire. After all, there's no smoke without fire. lol

ag, but this is very sad...i hope no-one's job is in the line! It would be very STUPID of the SABC to not have insured their assets!

If the cast of Isidingo is under contract then they will still have to be paid. SABC needs to be creative now and Isidingo will probally have to start doing more location filming while sets get rebuilt. If they had proper insurance this shouldn't be too much of a burden for the SABC financially.

LOL! Minah I get your point about the three months in advance thing and the Ace and Ayanda talking about new commissioner izolo thing............mna I think yeah they shoot episodes 3 months in advance and add current scenes in between to make the soap seem like a real life thing, and add those scenes in between the already shot episodes, you get me?

If the writers are clever, they can incorporate this tragedy in their storyline...gape you must identify opportunity EVERYWHERE and in every situation nowadays...be it bad or not!

@Njoy sana i suspect Slu and Papa G, corse we dont see them much LATELY. lol,,

14 Jun 2012 11:34

@Charmed dude....even if they are still under contract, they get paid per call. So if they are not working, due to unavailability of the set (though not fault of their own) they will not get paid.

This is sad. I don't see how they can incorporate possibly losing the Sibeko Penthouse, Ma Agnes' house and Georgie's shebeen at the same time unless there's a tornado at the Deep. LOL! Knowing those guys, they already brainstorming brilliant ideas that'll knock us off our sofas. Actually the scenes that they shoot on the day or the day before they air are called Current Affairs scenes. A lot of soaps have tried to incorporate them in their shows but they fail to have that 'kick' that Isidingo has. Other soaps tend to flood us with news and they end up being preachy. They must just stick to their boring storylines. These scenes can only be done on Isidingo. I pray these guys recover soon shame

Guy I really don't think making jokes about the burning of the set is the way to go.. these are real ppl's jobs and also joking about who did it is not that funny either.  This one caller on Gareth's show claimed to have worked there and mentioned that only the "Duncan Hotel" that got burnt.  Even if its the whole set andithi the whole Horizon Deep storry is about the Newly found gold in the mines so they can use it as a story bathi ppl like Zeb didn do enough security checks therefore there were some likage of some sort that led to the fire... I don't know or something along those lines, kuyabanda they can get creative.

Now can someone tell me if the scripts and all were also on the set, or do actors take them with for home rehesals?  Jesus I hope backups were made and kept in some Safety deposit outside SABC... imagine so much work!

@MINAH i was confused also abt 7 years ago, until i read on TvPlus in 2005 a viewer asked abt it, they say its called XT SCENE and @CHEESA is rite

Kwaaaaaaaaaaa lol. That reader who asked was me *hides* How funny looking back now because of how things have turned*hides*

lol, it isn't called TX scene. TX scene refers to a scene that something happens. What the magazine said then, and which I have eloquently come to know very well now, is that after a particular news event that warrants a mention on teh show, teh writers will quickly rewrite a scene shot three months ago to incorporate the that particular news event, shoot it and edit it and put it in their final mix. Then it will be flighted that particular evening.
