SAMAs Nomination Party

As we all know it's SAMA time. I mean the 17th Annual South African Music Awards are happening on 20 and 21 May. They won’t be taking place at their usual venue, Sun City.

They will be taking place at Montecasino, Johannesburg. Last night it was the nomination party that took place at Montecasino.

Musicians, everyone involved in music and the media went out in numbers to witness who is up for the SAMA’s this year. The nominations are tight as many artists released some good music last year.

Without saying much, here are some of the celebs who were at the nomination party.

JOZI's DaLes and Ishmiza. Their song Its A Party nominated for Record of the Year .

Ntombi Ngcobo of Amaponi with her yellow hair  is nominated for Best Urban Pop.

Sisters, Lulu and Zonke Dikane. I must say I love that song of Theo Kgosinkwe with Zonke. I wonder when is Zonke's album coming out. She's been promising many times now.

Slikour is also nominated for Best Rap alongside his protege Kwesta. I'm sure we'll hear him saying he wants Kwesta to take. I don't think the Dubula album did very well like his previous one.

Musician Ntando Bangani with Headline's controversial and crazy presenter Kuli Roberts.

#deathby Tina's pose. She's looking good. I like the hair.

Zakes Bantwini who is nominated for Best Male, Best Album of the Year and Record of the Year with Stoan who is nominated with partner in song Speedy for Best Duo/Group. I hope Zakes wins. Zakes must win.

Dj Sbu shem what's going on with his music career. His albums haven't been doing well. Y-Lens Volume 1 was the best that was the last time he got a SAMA. He is now busy with fashion. This man always finds something to bring him money, nothing bad with that.

Musician Nothende is also nominated.

Tumi of the Volume who is nominated for Best RAP with Mandoza who is nominated for Best Kwaito and Ntando Bangani. Tjo bathong Mandoza!

Jaziel Brothers whom thier song Woza is nominated for Record of the Year.

The couple ProTina posing for the cameras. Are they married already...anyway who cares.

DJ Black Coffee who's song Mama that features Bra Ring is nominated for Song of the Year. He's here with Ntando Bangani who was posing with everyone.

Loyiso Bala's song Wrong For You is also nominated for Record of the Year.

V-Entertainment presenter Siya Ngwekazi.

Joyous Celebrations' Nkanyiso Bhengu with DJ Cleo. Tjo who was making Cleo song angry.

Phew! He's now smiling

Here's is a list of some of the Nominees maybe the full list is still coming.:

Thanks Cheesa, people were wondering why Liquideep is nominated for best newcomer. apparently fairytale was released before they released their first album which has all the other songs. It was released between Nov 09 and Nov 10. I also wonder why people think Simphiwe Dana & Lira should have been nominated? besides releasing late for this year' sama, i havent heard anything woow from them yet. Ok let me say from Simphiwe because i dont have her latest cd, maara mo radiong i havent heard anything..

I was also hoping Lento would be nominated for record of the year instead on Imoto. What are the chances of people voting Imoto instead of all the other nominees? Lento was going to take it hands down! mhmm JR and HHP what if they win an award for their song? will they both go on stage together to accept the award? i wonder

Thanks Cheesa, people were wondering why Liquideep is nominated for best newcomer. apparently fairytale was released before they released their first album which has all the other songs. It was released between Nov 09 and Nov 10

I think they are eligible for the newcomer nomination because its thier first album even though Fairytale became thier first single way before the album was released. I mean many artists do that to test the waters.

They release a single first to hear people's response and then release a full album in which the song will be included.

I also wonder why people think Simphiwe Dana & Lira should have been nominated? besides releasing late for this year' sama, i havent heard anything woow from them yet. Ok let me say from Simphiwe because i dont have her latest cd, maara mo radiong i havent heard anything..

Hayi no I dont think Lira qualifies to be nominated for this year's SAMAs I mean her labum was released mos late February this year. And if I remember correctly albums that should be nominated should be released no later than December last year?

Simphiwe on the other hand she has nice tracks in her latest album. I guess the SAMA committee didnt feel her music like the Metros committee. I think people are just used to see these two artists getting nominated now they want them to be nominated even if they dont deserve to.

I think one of the reasons is because people always think anything that comes from them is worth a nomination since they've been nominated alot in previous years.

I was also hoping Lento would be nominated for record of the year instead on Imoto. What are the chances of people voting Imoto instead of all the other nominees? Lento was going to take it hands down!

I'm with you Cande, Lento is a tight track. But I think people will vote for Professa since they feel he deserves Record of the Year no matter what.

mhmm JR and HHP what if they win an award for their song? will they both go on stage together to accept the award? i wonder

I wonder too but I think JR will take it. Jabba seems like he's just not interested anymore.

will be there looking very expensive and handsome together with my beautiful future wife.  Ngwanab I've always thought you're a lady lol. Bring us news when you come back ;-)

Who the hell is Nomsa Mazwai ????
She is Thandiswa and Ntsiki Mazwai's sister. She has some beautiful songs. I always hear them on Metro FM. She's just not marketed well. Yena shem she has a nice album. I think she deserves the nominations especially best Newcomer.
Why isnt Sfiso Ncwane nominated ???? Eish cant answer this one
Does Rebecca have to be nominated every year nogal ???? I have made peace with this one. I dont even talk about it anymore. *sigh*
Why isnt Jezibiel nominated as the song of the year ???? Hayi shem badlala nge Jaziel Brothers. Who is going to vote for that song for Record of the Year except for thier families.

What the f*** happened to Mandoza (nkalakata fame). Damn.....!!!! *scared* Eish Mandoza bathong doesn't look good at all.

who voted for Nianell, Loiuse Carver and karen Zoid for Female Artist of the year? 1stly who listens to them? and are the organizers so desperate to have a white following in the SAMA's that they would fall flat to such a compromise? even Sis Ribs would represent in that Category...

Something is definitely eating Mandoza? i wouldnt show myself in Public if i looked like that!

I see JR - Show Dem in the Top 5 Song of the year contest! things are happening for that chap!

Why isnt Jezibiel nominated as the song of the year ???? Hayi shem badlala nge Jaziel Brothers. Who is going to vote for that song for Record of the Year except for thier families.

I must congrats to all to nominnes, like Makisto said last year that Uzohamba Nami of Rebecca Malope derseve to be nominated, yes in did is nominated is beatiful this album, i must say this most of Gospel Artist don`t write music so if Rebecca take time to produce good albums let be nominated, she works hard!!! You do this very well.

PruLuv
15 Apr 2011 00:16

So, Ntando was not nominated for any category...

Cheesa
15 Apr 2011 08:44

So  about the Liquid Deep saga I tuned into Metro FM's breakfast show this morning and they had the SAMA's CEO. They asked him to explain why Liquid Deep is nominated for Newcomer award when they have two albums (well I didnt know Fabrics of the Hearts is not thier first album but second).

The CEO basically said if an artist came into the industry or released an album between November 2009 and November 2010 that means they fall under the newcomer category. So about Liquid Deep, they released two albums in one year which is 2010. So they do qualify for a newcomer nomination.

So apparently people argued that Liquid Deep was nominated last year for best Dance or something in last years SAMAs. So the CEO explained that they were nominated for thier first album. Fairytale was also in that first album. So this mean Fairytale is featured in both Liquid Deep's albums, first and second album.

Cheesa
15 Apr 2011 08:46

LOL Pru you know me tltltltl.

Ntando didnt release a new album. Remember last year he won Best Afropop for his Inqubela album.

Its all a pleasure Blackzinto ;-)
