ANCYL President Elections: Juju vs Maile

Written by Cheesa from the blog Cheesa Chat on 07 Mar 2011

I know I am not very good at politics but I like them because they make me laugh and have some thing to talk about when I’m tired talking about entertainment. I just want to hear your view on this Julius Malema vs Lebohang Maile fight to be ANC youth League president since elections for ANC Youth League president are around the corner.

And abo Meshack Mavuso (aka Vusi on Isidingo) are fighting with people about who they think should be ANCYL president as reported by Sunday World. Apparently Meshack had an exchange of harsh words with some designer since the designer is behind Juju and Meshack behind Maile as to who should be ANCYL president.

So I just want to hear your views on this matter, do you feel like ANC Youth League president should be someone else its time for Juju to dedela banye.

Sowetan reported that, Five provinces - Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal and North West - have confirmed their support for Malema”.

The other provinces, including Maile's home base Gauteng, and Free State told Sowetan yesterday that they had not yet started leadership discussions.

But Maile's supporters believe that he could still swing the vote in his favour because provinces like Eastern Cape and Limpopo remain divided on the matter. They also believe that the majority of Gauteng branches will back Maile.

Recently, the Mail and Guardian reported that Maile's challenge to Malema had been endorsed by President Jacob Zuma.

So President Zuma endorsed Maile’s challenge, does this mean he would like to see a new ANC Youth League president? Mhmm and we know Julius Malema has been making submissive statements lately.

Once upon a time I read that Andile Lungisa was also “mobilizing” Eastern Cape youth to back him on his quest to being ANCYL president, dunno how that ended up.

Do you think Lebohang Maile should be ANCYL president or you want Juju to remain ANCYL president, why? What do you think would happen and change if Juju were to be voted out?

I just thought of some of the things that would happen if Juju were to be voted out. As much as many people don’t share the same views as Juju on matters. On a lighter note I think it would be boring if Juju were to step down. The media would be short of Headlines. People would have less to talk about. Some of us don’t know what Maile is all about like we didn’t know about Juju before he became ANC Youth League president.

Or maybe if Maile were to be ANCYL president he would give us more news to talk about and make even more shocking headlines, attend maybe chicken parties as opposed to sushi parties, nationalize farmers as opposed to mines, or maybe Mshoza would be the next Chomee? We dunno.

On a positive and serious note what stands out for you that Juju has done as ANC Youth League president. While at it maybe some of you can school some of us who don’t really know what the youth league stands for.

I don’t really know exactly whether their work is to challenge and make noise about what those who in government do. I just lose it somewhere somehow shed a light people.

Definitely yes, you will remember Juju had to go to ettiquette school

Do you think Lebohang Maile should be ANCYL president or you want Juju to remain ANCYL president, why? What do you think would happen if Juju were to be voted out?
Yes I want Maile. As much as Juju is from my province, I don't encourage branches to vote for him at the elections.

Juju should be banished to being a powerless member of the NEC.

People would have less to talk about.
Don't think this Maile guy will not be controversial. It is youth league nature to hog media spolitght in some way.

On a positive and serious note what stands out for you that Juju has done as ANC Youth League president.
Unfounded and ridiculous "racist girl" verbal dirreha

just lose it somewhere somehow shed a light people.
They get paid to attend meeting and attack opposition parties in the media, that's all!

i also think Lebogang Maile is a good candidate. He is now the ANCYL chairperson in gauteng and minister of sports? the youth could learn a thing or to from hi. Malema's utterance sometimes have made him loose supporters, maara clearly he still has lots of support if 5 provinces are for him... I think Malema should be made an MP or something, or mayor of some munucipality so we can start seeing his work.

Cheesa

True so that we can see how he would do as mayor or MP since they say actions speak louder that words.

I'm now imagining which City would love to see Malema as its mayor lol.

i would love Juju to remain mainly because he makes the president uneasy.

if JUJU steps down - who will talk about the nationalisation of mines whcih are currently enjoyed by Zuma's family and friends. Juju keeps the show going. Maile  will be Zuma's peppert. do what Zuma asks and just nods.

as much as i hate Juju i love him too.

To be honest with you, I never take politics at face value. I always believe there's more to what we are fed.

There are many people behind the these politicians and some are very smart in swaying matters in a certain direction.

E.g. So President Zuma endorsed Maile’s challenge, does this mean he would like to see a new ANC Youth League president?

Somehow, I don't buy this. Maybe I'm wrong, but this could to a drive to "convince" the public that the "presidency" distances itself from Malema's statements.

Hey Cheesa

Sadly if Lebo has any affiliation with the Zuma camp then you have a "same script, different cast". Lebo may not spew vulgarities and be the "butt" of all jokes  but  could still remain as useless as Malema is.

The only change that can come out of this would be for Lebo (if he wins) to do an overhaul of the entire organisation. The YL has proven that it has influential power in our leadership so they could use that to do some tangible changes in the legislation and lives of it's supporters. The ANC needs a hero right now and Maile can be that PHOENIX.

If the YL can stop this nonsense of being militant all the time when no one is agreeing with them and engage society in a decent way, just maybe they will be taken seriously. For now they are just a waste of time trying.

Cheesa
07 Mar 2011 14:00

i would love Juju to remain mainly because he makes the president uneasy. yes baby e thats another thing about Juju. He is not afriad to say anything about anyone. I dont if Maile would ahve the same guts. Juju keeps anyone in government on thier toes. I think there is no one who in governement who can say Juju cannot utter negative stuff about them even Mbalula. Who would have thought that Juju might say they things he has said about the President even though some he was not saying directly.

Somehow, I don't buy this. Maybe I'm wrong, but this could to a drive to "convince" the public that the "presidency" distances itself from Malema's statements. I hear you Pru it might be one of those things to make the public think that Zuma against Malema since he's been making submisive comments about ke we cant be sure.

Lebo may not spew vulgarities and be the "butt" of all jokes but could still remain as useless as Malema is. LOL!

The YL has proven that it has influential power in our leadership so they could use that to do some tangible changes in the legislation and lives of it's supporters.

Blaque, do you think with Maile as the President the ANCYL can do this without Juju, as we know he is the loud mouth one? Akre we dont know what Maile can do. Dont you think Maile might remove the current ANCYL cabinet and bring his own and get rid of Juju's. If he does that do you think they might have balls as Juju and his cabinet phela we dont know if Maile's cabinet might have the guts and the same influence as Juju and his cabinet in government.

LOL! Maddie is tired its true this is a game that is why I dont take it to mind and just watch when these politicians becomes friends today then tomorrow fight.

Who the hell in the Devil's red diary is Andile Lungisa, myname?

Whether the next ANCYL's president is gonna be still Malema or Maile it doesn't matter, it is gonna be from one fool to another stupid fool - same difference.

Since Malema, Zuma and co were against Mbeki going for the 3rd term now is the time for them to practice what they preached then and step down voluntarily. There's no need for competition.

ditto Blaque...

Sadly if Lebo has any affiliation with the Zuma camp then you have a "same script, different cast"....having heard both Lebo Maile and Andile Lungisa speak for the ocices they hold (Sports minitsry GP and NYDA respectively)...i actually even think they would also go as hard as Julius, with insults and rhetorics etc, they lack tact nabo, they have the same kind of disrespectfull swagg towards people that critique the departments they lead and thats just bad. ANC has set a terrible example when it comes to this "attack whomever doesnt agree with you or sing you praises" mentality....

And generally, i tend to agree with maddie...i actually couldnt care less anymore. I refuse to wreck my brain and burst veins when it comes to the things our gorvenment do or dont do. Nommater how much noise we make, they will never change their course is they were set to do something. The Toll system will happen and when it does it will be even more expensive to compensate for the lost time, they are holding back as they figure out a new trick about it...
Thinkin out loud: There has to be another way though.... because apathy will get us nowhere....?????

I gotta say again and again Big ups to Egypt and Tunisia for revolting and ectaully succeeding. What did they do diffrenetly that most countries missed, including us on service delivery protest..because those protests hardly achieve anything.
Praying that Lybia succeeds in removing the tyrant that is Gadaffi...that man looks like what i think of when i visualise a dictator seriasly!!

PSSS: the only one person from the ANCYL who i felt held his own, "spoke" diffrently and id be glad if he led ke Lohlogonolo Masoga...pity he has been "expelled " (is it?) from the YL.
The thing about politics is that if you dare to go againts what the people who pull the strings behind the scenes want..you will be dealth with..and death is possible...sadly. Thats why capable people choose to sit back because they value their lives...

politics>>>> a dirty game...pity people become the pawns in this game of theirs

You know GA when I read Lebo Maile is running for ANCYL President I thought they were talking about Lehlohonolo since I read in Drum mag that he was going to be a condedor for ANCYL president and that they were friends with Malema but now they dont see eye to eye etc.

When I saw Maile's picture I thought no man this is not the person I read about in Drum. I also thought this Lehlohonolo guy was going to be serious competition for Juju and these elections would be fireworks considering thier history with Juju and how thier relationship is like now. Here's a bit of the article I read in Drum about Lehlohonolo:

HE HAS an easy charm and a razor-sharp mind that makes him walk easily in the corridors of political power. But that’s not why his name is on everyone’s lips. People are talking about Lehlogonolo Masoga because he’s the first serious contender to the throne of ANC youth league president Julius Malema.

Lehlogonolo’s recent expulsion as Limpopo ANCYL leader caused a storm in political circles. He’s challenged the youth league leader and members from other provinces agree with his statements that Julius isn’t following proper election procedures. That’s why the 33-year-old politician poses a serious threat to Julius, a man he once considered one of his closest friends, insiders say. And if he’s in the ANCYL come election time it could be one of the hottest leadership battles in years.

Ironically Lehlogonolo helped Julius to become current president of the youth league. The two were once close despite being quite different in everything from their personalities and education to their looks. One thing they do have in common is that they can command the attention of a crowd. We see this when we spot the ousted leader from a distance at the parliamentary buildings in Polokwane.

He cuts a dashing figure in a tailored suit and black shirt among the suited bureaucrats milling about. Laughing and chatting confidently with fellow provincial parliament members, he seems to draw others to him.

His two cellphones ring incessantly and he takes every call. But when we finally manage to catch a quiet moment with him he puts both phones on silent before leading us to a room to talk about the recent developments in his political career.

“I’m still an ANC member,” he says about his expulsion from the league for “sowing division and bringing the league into disrepute”. “I’m still the leader of the province and I will remain provincial leader until I hand over the position at the upcoming provincial conference in August.”

Read the full article in DRUM of 5 August 2010

Interesting read about him. He defs is cut from a slightly diffrent cloth to the one that made Juju, Maile, Lungisa and that woman..that old woman who is amongs the many grown ups in the YL when they are just too damn old (i dont care what the ege restricting is...sense should be prevailing here..and sense dictates that young people should be on the helm adressing young people issues that they relate to).....mxim...*regrouping*...

where was i....

Lehlogonolo is slightly different. But just like Terror Lekota and Sam Shilowa appeared to have diffrent convictions to the ones the everage ANC loyalists have...they had this bitterness thing that they based their failed expedition on (cope)...bitterness is never the right place to start..yes it can propell you to start a revolution againts a system that is not just..but it wears you down, clouds your judgemnet and your vision crumbvles eventually. Id root for Lehlogonolo, but id still worry about his intentions tho...
And there is the "power" temptation that he my fall for...like Shikota eventually did...

Give me anybody to lead the youths as long as it is not Julius. This fool talks a lot of nonsense, he hates white people, blacks wo don't worship him and most importantly I am tired of his rubbish. Actually I am tired of all the people from seshego who found a new way of living a good life without going to school and working - politics. Malema and Mapoulo are both piece of rubbish and not leaders.  while at it, take Zoooooma with them. ANC can do better than to give us these clowns.

Andile is no longer running, supporting Maile. The both of them are worse at "looting" state money,Malema is way much better.Dont want to say much but the YL is better with Malema. He does not talk nonsense all the time,he is just misunderstood.

Green.arrow
09 Mar 2011 09:40

I believe you Mathaz were Maile and Lungisa are concerned, and for the lack of better competition, i think malema fares better than them. Thing with Malema is, he is  already rich he doesnt need to loot anymore than he probably has ... The issue i have with him is the nonsense he speaks, once for a leader is too much...i think he can do better if 1. If he had tact and 2. If he channeled his energy to young people's issues.

About the looting of money, hayi they are vithinzing it shem.

Thing with Malema is, he is already rich he doesnt need to loot anymore than he probably has ... is the money for being ANCYL president of he has other businesses?
