Dramatic Khumbul'ekhaya

Hey did you all watch Khumbul’ekhaya last night. Tjo it was a hectic funny show. I laughed out loud the whole time especially at the first story were there was this gal Zandile looking for her mother who has been missing since 2002. The gal claims that their mother left them in 2002 saying she is going to Joburg to look for a job. She left 8 children behind with their father.

Now since Zandile is the older one she has to look after those kids and make sure they eat, wash and help them with their school work. She has to help her father with making the house and everything. She said her younger siblings always ask her where is their mother and she constantly has to lie and say she’s coming back. She is working in Joburg.

She said when her mother arrived in Joburg she called them and told them she has found a job in Kempton Park. When she got paid the first month they asked her for money but she told them she can’t send them the money at that month because she is still settling in. They also decided to let her use the money hoping the next month she is going to send them the money. Tjo the next pay day arrived and mommy dearest didn’t send the money and kept quite after that. They never heard anything from her since then.

Zandile has her own child. Apparently her child doesn’t leave with her. She leaves in Komani I dunno with whom. But she said she sees her child whenever she wants to see her. She always calls her child, basically she knows about her child’s well being unlike her mother. She decided to send the child in Komane because she couldn't take care of it at her home. She didn’t want to add some more problems on top of what they have to deal with at home.

Hehehee ayi Zandile discussed this matter with her father telling him she is going to look for her mother with the help of Khumbul’ekhaya. The father told her to do that because he really doesn’t know what caused her wife to disappear like that and never come home. He is now struggling alone with their kids and they really need her.

Zandile decided to take her other sister apparently there is a younger one who is not afraid to speak her mind. So she decided to take the other one with because the one who is not afraid to speak her mind is young. So they arrived in Joburg e hostele. Tjo lol. They saw their mother walking I think she was going to her room. I dunno what happened with the younger sister. She just screamed and put her hands in her head and cried at the same time. The mother recognized her daughters and hugged Zandile.

Yho that mother shouted at the younger daughter telling her it’s their father who chased her away. It’s not her fault. Eish that mother was just dramatic bathong and I loled the whole time. When she saw that everyone ehostele is looking at them she freaked out shouting saying “huuuu hayi niyazi thanda indaba zabantu. Niyay’bona le nto eniyenzile ngonku wonke umntu undijongile apha huuuu hayi hayi…” lol you should have seen her. She even asked those people “nijongeni nina nizithanda qhithi indaba zabantu.”

So Khumbule’ekhaya decided to take them somewhere quite so they can speak. Zandile asked her mother to come home. She told them she is not going back to Ngcobo yena. Their father kicked her out of his house telling her to go look for a job because he is not going to support her. The mother asked them “is he going to support me now all of a sudden.” She even asked “is he going to want me after all these years I’ve been away, I am not going there.” The girls told her they need her at home because they can’t cope without her because everything is a mess at home.

Tjo that mother told them “Oooohhhh you want me to be your nanny at home since you have own children now. I am not going to do that. I am no body’s nanny. My kids are old enough I don’t have any babies mna.” Tjo she was on fire maan. She said "look now people are looking at me. You decided to show me on Khumbul’ekhaya for the whole of South Africa to see me and now everyone knows indaba zam."

The younger daughter told her what happened to her when she was 13 that she was grabbed by some men and sent her to marry very old man I think 54 years old to be his wife. And that the old man is in a wheelchair and if she was there that wouldn’t have happened. The mother cried and asked them to stop talking and I think she came to her senses shame and talked right. And told them she is going to fetch her clothes from her friend. Tjo when she was in the car going home heheheeeh that woman mara is something else. Everyone in hostel was screaming for her and saying their good byes. That mother shouted in the car bye byiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiini miiis*nu. I was rotflmao. That was the end of her story.

Then followed the second story of the Twasing mother who left her children with their father when the other daughter was 1 month and half old. I dunno what happened with her when she was talking with her daughter. She just did something frightening nje.

Cheesa, KK would be unfair to just end the drama like that "in the air" lol.
nna I forgot to watch it, i only remembered late only to come to the tswasing woman, needless to say...I ran away (changing channels)

“Oooohhhh you want me to be your nanny at home since you have own children now. I am not going to do that. I am no body’s nanny. My kids are old enough I don’t have any babies mna.” >>>ROTFLOOOOOO

That mother shouted in the car bye byiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiini miiis*nu. I was rotflmao.....

That cracked me up...I don't usually watch KK....but last nite was killer, couldn't sleep without finishing the episode.

2nd story...I don't feel the girl was rude at all....the mother deserved that after almost 30 years of disappearence....don't give a damn what her reasons were....30 years is a long time....

07 Jan 2010 10:41

On da second stori i feel sori 4 umama though its been a long time not bothering herself 2 check their children stayabouts... Bt that girl waz very rude it was nt da right way 2 talk 2 her mother... Guys yebo siyakholwa kodwa kufanele simuhloniphe omunye umuntu no matter uyisangoma/umthandazi.

Nxa Zone 14 you the reason I missed Khumbulekhaya, I really can't stand it.

WoW, thanks Cheesa for a recap.

Ngqesta
07 Jan 2010 10:45

No guys...I did not think the daughter was rude at all on the second story....she was just calling her into order suka....why were the ancestors not 'talking' to her all along.....only when it got to the crux  and she was being questioned about her initiatives to locate her children did she suddenly get 'amakhosi'........no ways....after that number of years...I would want my mother to account...makhosi or not...am sorry but I would want answers...she kept saying that the father told her to leave them behind as she would not know how to deal with the kids' customs and tradition...she continues to say because SHE did not want to struggle, she obliged.

As for the first story....it's gotta beone of the best KK stories.....reminded me as to why I love the show to start with....drama drama and more drama. I really was touched when the younger sister was narrating the abduction story...imagine being wedded at 13 to a partly paralysed and epileptic 54 year old man....I actually think it's good she told the story...coz the mother all of sudden got 'inimba (have no idea what it is in English - suppose it's the strong bond between the mother and her child)'..then she changed her stance...but yho udefensive lamfazi.

Apologies for the long one

Hayi da-diva that hlasimling the thwasing mama was doing was unnecessary.the daughter of the thwasing mama was a bit arrogant/texting herself (nokuzibona kancane).wakhumsha (speaking english)ke ngoku ndathi hayi ke ngoku savelelwa etv-ini!going on about being a married woman and how her mother wil guide her in her marriage.

Cheesa
07 Jan 2010 10:52

Guys yebo siyakholwa kodwa kufanele simuhloniphe omunye umuntu no matter uyisangoma/umthandazi. Exactly Da Diva I think this is the reason why that daughter disrespected her mother like that.  Because uyathwasa and yena she's a Christian. I mean she calls herself a Christain kodwa she's doesn't have respect for umuntu omdala.

the community bekungathi bathi HAMBA SCEFE,  hey I also noticed that maybe she was a very rude person in that community that people were even fed up of her shame.

Hey wena Tebby that crazy mama story was not finished there maan. I wanted to see her when she gets home what was she going to do or say to that father and their family.  Yhooo I wonder lol.

07 Jan 2010 10:56

the saddest story was when her daughter told her how she was forced into marrying a disabled 54year old guy.  when she was 13yrs old!!!...(although I nearly laughed when she described his disabilty...at the same time her mother lost her composure and her bitchiness when she realised what she left her daugheter to go thru

The first mama killed me,that is one lady who is not afraid to speak her mind. And I think her other daughter, not Zandile, took after her.I laughed so hard when she cursed in the car when they were going home (my dad even came to my room to check what I was laughing at). That is one crazy lady.I can only imagine the drama in that house now that she has returned.

I personally dont see anything wrong with that daughter in the 2nd story, who was calling her mother to order. In my opinion that mama wanted sympathy that's why she went all sangomaish on the daughter.I have a feeling she was expecting to be welcomed with lotsa hugs and kisses, but she got a surprise of her life when she realised that her daughter has a mouth and isnt afraid to use it.
And maybe the reason the daughter reprimanded her was because (I think) she doesnt believe in the ancestor sh!t. Recall how she was going on and on about God,nothing about the ancestors getting them together.

great article Cheesa, nicely written.

I havent watched Khumbula kahya since the Tholakele story. i can understand some things about this people's behaviours being funny but I struggle to find the holler-out-loud-slap-your-knee humour in the story. Guess one would have to watch it to see the actual woman and maybe I'd laugh

07 Jan 2010 11:21

I won't blame that woman for not seeing her children after 30yrs maybe she's not revealing everything nobody knows ukuthi ubeyothwasa for how long perhaps 10yrs.

And one other thing batho hare tshwaneng if grandfather a re siya bana batla o bakela mathata i will also do so, coz once i take them the will be trouble phambili, ho na le batho ba tsebang hotswara motho ka pelo, maybe if she forced to take them, today they wouldn't be alive, some customs they don't wait for you to turn 20 or 15, we have to understand that we are different.

I know that we dont know the whole story, and I'm honestly not blaming her for taking 30 years before going to look for her kids, but some of the things only need common sense.
