It was the DStv Upfronts in Jozi on Monday (4 August) and TVSA was in the action. The focus of the Upfronts was to showcase upcoming South African content on the platform and DStv's future local content plans.

We blogged the event live ... here's an account of things as they unfolded:

Introductions

Tumisho Masha introduces the Upfronts - he's MC'ing - he opens proceedings by chatting about his exerience with DStv over the years - from when he was a VJ - 17 years ago.

Things begin with a screener showcasing local content currently airing on DStv and M-Net ... Carte Blanche, Idols, MasterChef SA (with new judge Rueben Riffel).

Idols 10

Live again: Idols live shows will be live again - on Sundays. The results will be live too - they'll be happening immediately after the weekly live shows so things will be happening chop-chop.
