Larger-than-life comedian and actor Robin Williams dies at 63
As millions of adoring fans pause to remember the life and times of Academy Award winner, comedian and actor Robin Williams - who died yesterday August, 11 at his home just outside Tiburon, California - M-Net Movies Showcase channel 108 on DStv will be screening a special tribute in memory of the legendary comedian.

Robin Williams (63) provided audiences with both dramatic and comedic performances on film, stage and television throughout his career. In 1998 Williams received an Academy Award® for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in
Good Will Hunting. Williams career started in stand-up comedy and he first gained attention as ‘Mork from Ork’ on the hit television series
Mork & Mindy.
He then made his feature film debut in
Popeye and went on to star in
Moscow on the Hudson,
The World According to Garp,
Mrs. Doubtfire,
Jumanji,
Patch Adams,
Awakenings,
Flubber,
World’s Greatest Dad,
The Big Wedding,
The Fisher King,
Good Morning Vietnam,
Night at the Museum and
Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian.
He has worked with distinguished Hollywood directors such as Steven Spielberg in
Hook, Christopher Nolan in
Insomnia, Mark Romanek in
One Hour Photo and Mike Nichols in
The Birdcage, for which the cast won a SAG ensemble award. Additionally, Williams has lent his voice to the beloved animated movies
Aladdin,
Robots,
Happy Feet and
Happy Feet Two.
Robin Williams is survived by his wife Susan Schneider and three children Zachary Pym, Zelda Rae and Cody Alan. His larger-than life persona will be deeply missed. May his soul rest in peace.
