Generations actor salaries revealed!

Shock reveal!

The SABC and Generations' production company MMSV Productions have revealed the salaries of the 16 actors who've been fired from the soapie as part of the battle between them.

They revealed the news during a press conference at Auckland Park this morning where they've been addressing the media on the crisis surrounding the show.

They haven't spoken about individual salaries but have revealed the 16 actors receive an average salary of R55 000 per month between them. They went on to say that some of the actors receive "a lot more than the average".

As you know, actors, broadcasters, shows and other interested parties are always very hush-hush about salary matters so it's a Very Big Deal that this has happened.

In the meantime, the impacted actors are preparing for a press conference of their own this Monday (25th).

This release came in this morning before the SABC press conference:

The Generations Actors Guild notes with interest that MMSV Productions and the SABC are hosting a press conference to “clear the air” around the dismissal of the 16 members of Generations principal act.

The guild also notes with dismay that the SABC and MMSV Productions have been on a campaign of communicating misinformation about salaries and rates that the cast allegedly earns – these claims are a blatant untruth, and the guild recognizes them for what they are -  a petty tactic to turn public opinion against the cast, and paint them as opportunistic, greedy and overpaid.  Equally concerning is the fact that their erstwhile employers deem it appropriate to reveal salaries – even as they are a complete fabrication.  As an action, it is unethical and totally inappropriate.

The members of the Generations Actors Guild will hold a press conference, where they will speak to the issues and provide a proper and true context of their working conditions and issues that led them to this point.

R55000 is a lot of money for an average actor what we dont know is out of that R55000, how much goes to the actor's managers. I am sure the actors will provide clarity on Monday.

To hell with labour brokers.

R55 000 is not enough they should be paid this amount per episode

R55 000 sounds like a lot of money, until Tax, medical aid and a whole lot of other things are taken from it...and i understand stuff like Provident fund arent paid by the SABC for the actors, ALSO actors' agents get a piece of that R55k as well. so in essesnce most actors probably take home +-R30 000. which is still not enough for actors working on such a huge soapie which actually generates more than a million everyday!

MMSV and SABC needs to really look into what they are paying these actors and give them what they are worth....its very sad how the rich always become richer. No wonder most actors who leave Generations struggle if they dont get proper jobs
