After double elimination on Idols 10 this past Sunday, Makisto sat down with eliminated contestant Ivan Roux to get his insights about the eventuality. We pressed him about the voting fiasco that might have played a crucial role in his journey with the show.
Makisto: Your thoughts on tonight’s eliminations?
Ivan: Yhoo dude I am very surprised about what just happened, shocked. What can you do? It’s a competition. Two people had to go tonight and that happened to be us. I was preparing myself not to go home but make peace with any kind of eventuality. How many people can say they have reached the Top 11 in this year’s Idols? I am of course sad because I would have liked to go further in the competition. But I do feel very blessed to have made it this far.
Makisto: During the week you were rehearsing to come perform tonight but that isn’t happening anymore due to eliminations. Tell us about that…
Ivan: I was going to perform “You and Me” by Lifehouse. It’s a very slow song, beautiful and intimate. The song has so much meaning: It’s about when you love somebody and when you are with them time takes forever for you to be together again. But when the time comes it’s like time stands still and at the same time, time goes so much faster.
Makitso: That’s deep stuff…
Ivan: Yeah it is very deep. I enjoy music that has meaning and not just music. I was looking forward to that, you know what I mean.
Makisto: The fact that you and Vincent H were involved in the voting fiasco where you became an automatic part of the Top 11 ... do you think it had any role to play in what went down tonight?
Ivan: You know what? (a very deep sigh) I don’t think so because at the end of the day, we are both sitting here…I have always had this mindset that what has to happen will happen. Fate is fate, you can’t temper with it. I don’t…I…I think in some way it did play a part and in some way not as much as well.
Makisto: So where to from here for you?
Ivan: Yhoo man, I believe as much as my journey with Idols ends here, my music career is only starting and I am grateful for the opportunity Idols gave me and I can only hope for the best. I will be going back to writing more music and trying to work with various artists.
Makisto: I don’t wanna keep you for long man since other journalists also wanna talk to you. Thanks for your time and we wish you all the best man.
