The Idols 10 Top 7 get stripped down this week but no, not in the way that you might think!
After saying goodbye to one more contestant in this week’s live Idols X Spectacular at Pretoria’s State Theatre, the remaining 7 contestants will perform stripped-down versions of popular hits, under the musical mentorship of The Parlotones frontman Kahn Morbee.
Nelspruit’s Bongi Silinda (24) will be breathing new life into Reverend Al Green’s classic, soulful, “Let’s Stay Together”.
Durbanville singer Demi Lee (24) will tackle Christina Perry’s “Human”.
Kyle Deutschmann (27), the chiropractor from Durban, is working on a Drake hit: “Hold On We’re Going Home”.
Lize Mynhardt (21) from Stellenbosch will attempt her version of the sultry Beyoncé hit with Jay-Z, “Crazy In Love”.
London Louw (24) from Cape Town will be singing Rixton’s “Me and My Broken Heart”.
eMalahleni’s Musa Mashiane (27) again chose a hit from Mother Africa: Capetonian Matthew Mole’s “Take Yours, I’ll Take Mine”.
Tumi Morobane (21) from Johannesburg is also keeping it local with DJ Kent’s hit with The Arrows, “Spin My World”.
And the worship leader from Pietermaritzburg, Vincent Bones (29) is re-interpreting James Arthur’s “Impossible”.
Tickets for the show are on sale now from Computicket and the Top 7 Spectacular goes out live on M-Net and Mzanzi Magic on Sunday 12 October at 17:00, with special guest performances from Season 8 winner Khaya Mthethwa, and SA supergroup The Parlotones.
