London goes home this week but not before he speaks out about being a bottom three veteran and tantalising us with his goodies from London, his wait loss secret ingredients and much more.
Makisto: London you have had an interesting run up to this point.
London: Quite interesting.
Makitso: Indeed. Each week when you thought you were gonna go home and you didn’t, what was going on in your mind?
London: I couldn’t believe that I actually made it. I was fighting a different game from other contestants. Most of the contestants were fighting to win and I was fighting not to get eliminated. I think because I kept on fighting so hard not to get eliminated, it’s what kept me in.
Makisto: Now that finally the inevitable has happened, how do you feel?
London: I’ve been preparing myself to go home since very early on in the competition. I knew being in the bottom three so many times there was no chance of winning. So…I am fine. I’m very happy with what I have accomplished because the fourth place for me in the competition is very very very far. I am leaving in the fourth spot and I am happy about it. I am sad I didn’t get to sing the songs I have rehearsed but I am happy that I made it this far.
Makisto: Tell us about the songs you were gonna perform tonight.
London: Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares to you” from 1990 [the year he was born], my personal favourite The Darkness’s “I believe in a thing called love” and Lady Gaga’s “Born this way”. And don’t tell anyone this…[Here London comments about the Lady Gaga song].
Makisto: In your performances, each week you really brought in you’re A-game. Do you think that helped in sustaining you this far in the competition?
London: I think the turning point for me in this competition was the show-stopper. That’s when people started taking me a lot more seriously than they did before. Everything that I have done was not about how do I try and get votes, impress the judges – it was about making the song true and get it to mean something, that was the biggest thing for me.
Makisto: Enough about the competition talk, it is getting boring now. Tell us about your weight loss programme
London: Hahahahaha, I am fat again.
Makisto: Don’t be silly. I was watching your journey in this competition along with everyone and I was impressed with how you have really shed the excess weight. How did you do that?
London: I know when I go back home, when I leave the competition, in two weeks’ time I am gonna go back to my dieting. I couldn’t lose weight while staying in the Idols house because we can only eat the food they prepare for us. It was impossible to keep up with it.
Makisto: But seriously now London, you have remarkably lost weight and you look remarkable now.
London: Thank you, thank you so much.
Makitso: What’s your secret? What have you been doing?
London: It’s not a secret. I just stopped eating carbs and sugar. The vegetables I eat are only green vegetables. Nothing that of any other colour, maybe cauliflower, yeah, that’s about it.
Makisto: Is it not difficult though to try and lose weight?
London: If you put your mind to it then…I just told myself this is what I am going to do. Because I live by myself, I would only buy greens. When I am hungry that would be the only food I can cook and eat. I also refrain from buying chocolates and other frivolous things. [I was hoping for a bio-slim answer].
Makisto: London tell us about the trip to London.
London: It was the most amazing experience of my life. I want to move to London now. The experience was incredible. From the people, the sight-seeing to the shopping, it was just amazing.
Makisto: What did you buy?
London: [He shows me his Loius Vuitton bag]
Makisto: I should take a picture of this for my article.
London: I bought it at a Louis Vuitton shop so I even have a certificate for it. I also bought clothes and gifts for my family. I just shopped a lot.
Makisto: Who paid for your shopping together with the other three guys? Was it Idols?
London: We got
Per Diem per day but most of the other stuff that I bought I used my own money.
Makisto: What is the way forward from here onwards for you?
London: I absolutely have no idea. But I know I am not gonna sit down and wait for something to happen.
Makisto: Thanks for your time and all the best for your future plans.
