This season of Idols has been quite captivating – the finale and the finale afterparty was entertaining, write TVSA Trio Makisto, Pruluv and Tazteeq.
It was pretty obvious that Vincent Bones was bound to win … so yeah, yeah congrats to Vincent. We were hoping that by some miracle Bongi would win. Imagine a world were votes could be rigged … the aftermath could trend for days. #JustSaying. ?
Bongi became the first black woman to be the runner-up in the show since its inception; obviously a black girl has never won despite the amount of talent the black girls bring each season. Think Thembi (Season 5), Tshidi (Season 8)?
Thank God season 10 of IdolsSA has now come to an end. The show has taken over our lives yhoo! Attending the live shows every Sunday meant from Sunday midday until at night, your time belongs to Idols.
Our TVSA Trio tightened their shoelaces and joined the masses to the almost sold-out Carnival City Big Top Arena.
Our highlight or, rather, shock of the evening was Mr Randall Abrahams performing live and actually singing. We still get bizarre flashbacks. However, as surprising as it may be, it was rather uncomfortable watching him feel out of place on that stage. He was fidgeting throughout his performance and we seriously cannot recall what his voice sounds like. No hate – We are just being honest. Yoh… and what about those tight leather pants he wore. Damn!
Eeewu… then Unathi performed. We didn’t see that one coming. We wish we could hear the lyrics of the song to make a more informed judgement. We swear, we only heard “Baleka” and our minds wondered to Baleka Mbethe and her famous wave with the caption “I did not recognise you.” Honestly, we didn’t recognise the lyrics.
Carnival City went ruckus when the apparent no 2 MC in SA, Casper Nyovest performed. We still can’t get over that list especially that KO and Casper are better MCs than AKA. Hay… We shall say no more.
Stiff Musa has thee most golden voice ever. He should be slaying it as the Best Male Artist in South Africa, but something about the post marketing and PR of Idols winners doesn’t sit well with us. Pruluv even posed the question to Randall at the press conference about the PR and marketing plan for Vincent Bones – well… her question did not get a clear answer but that his album will be released in March. #Sigh
Then there was the afterparty. The highlight of the afterparty was when Reason performed with Chad Saaiman. Those were epic performances!
It was actually awesome to see Idols host Proverb's wife during the after party as was the same with Vincent Bones's wife. However, what's with these wives following their men wherever they went? Vincent Bones' wife even went as far as wanting to be in the selfies when people asked to take selfies with her hubby.
Proverb was on duty on the night including during the after party yet wifey kept on following him to every direction he went. Yazi it would've been nice for them wifeys to be like Connie Furgerson when MNET launched The Wild in 2010. TVSA founding editor Tashi Tagg reported then that after the launch Connie and Shona were each "busy" with whomever and only came together when they left the party to go home.
Shame we can imagine though the wives fearing some women may pull a Kelly Khumalo on their hubbies hence they held on their men like their handbags. Most and above all, it's actually awesome that these wives support their hubbies' careers. We just had to say this so feminists don't pull a Debora Patta on us.
Shame yazi, we were really touched by Vincent B’s wife as she was “over the moon” at the after party when the prizes where handed over to her hubby. Her fasting prayers have been answered! We just wanna know who is going to spend that R80 000 Truworths voucher. Is it for Vincent or can he use it to buy clothes for his family and friends?
Tjo and what's with the Ford ntoni ntoni that Vincent won being kept in some dodgy place with a leaking roof? It wasn't cool when Vincent had to pose for pics with his new wheels and the roof be leaking on him, cameramen and journos. That ain't cool! Carnival City and IdolsSA could have done better in that regard yazi.
Shame man, we are writing here saying thanks heavens Idols is over. Other SADC countries wanna be part of IdolsSA or it shall be IdolsSADC! During the Idols presser after the crowning, journos asked MNet and Idols bosses about extending the competition to other SADC countries and nothing was promised except for saying it will be looked into.
On that note, it's a job well done to MNet and Mzansi Magic for another stellar season.
