The Soapie Police

Supporting/Unemployed cast that should be permanent

David’s hitman from Rhythm City: my apologies for not remembering his name but this guy is the thirstiest vampire alive.  Thirstier than Lekalakala and Fezile of Isibaya combined.

The Dustbin man from Scandal: we love to hate our villains and some are just nasty. Like the orphaned Phehelo who hasn’t made peace with his situation yet. Somehow this guy just oozes our screens and leaves us wanting more, either his agent isn’t doing a great job or he’s got a commitment phobia.

Marothi from Skeem Saam: there’s no love in my hatred for Marothi. I just cannot stand him and his acting is so good that he’s convinced me that he’s Marothi and he should play a sweet guy for a change when he leaves Skeem Saam.

Kitso from Scandal: the weave and the hip-hop look has made the once authentic Saints&Sinners actress look like an untalented groupie. Maybe I’m too attached to the Bonnie character she used to play but I don’t like her current role, either way I wish this talented actress could get a permanent gig or become permanent in her current role.

Kenneth Mashaba from the power of the 16: the pedi man who made his mark as Nkusheng should join the cast of Skeem Saam or Muvhango. His sarcastic tone and memorable “Abore hwa” made pedi people jump up&down like Tom Cruise did on Oprah’s couch and Dr.Malinga almost kicked the ceiling on Noeleen’s Three talk. Skeem Saam is luke warm, between it and Zabalaza I would say Zabalaza is getting warmer.

Khomotso from Muvhango: there are only a few successful villains that have made being evil look like the best thing since Adam bit on the apple in the garden of Eden. Like Vhele and Tebogo from Muvhango, Gita from 7de Laan, Cherel from Isidingo and Eve who just left Rythmn City. I knew she would be punished for her sins but taking her out of the soapie was a mistake. The Mojalefa clan are a bunch of boring nobody’s; Khomotso was the trifle and we now just have jelly and custard.

Smanga from Generations:  i know this guy is part of the cast. But he hasn’t lived up to his pay cheque yet. He’s either the biggest extra or a supporting cast that accidently made it. His calmness is annoying, he took the saying: “calm before the storm literally” and I hope he’s goanna show some emotion or passion soon. Anything to make him visible would be great any day now, ANY DAY NOW, PLEASE! As I accidently fall on my knees with my crocodile tears praying louder, so my neighbours have something to complain about, in tongues even. AMEN.
