Soapiewars - Round 1 (the 7pm slot)

Round one started with Rhythm City trying to take away Isidingo’s 7pm slot. Isidingo fans will recall that Rhythm City, 7de Laan and Skeem Saam got too hot for the Deep previously at 6:30pm and they’ve been owning the 7pm slot for a while. Now it looks like they have nowhere to hide because the only open slots with no S.A soapies are the 17:30 and 6pm.

They opened the scene with Frank and Barker and won round one against Fats and his mom. And as much as Rhythm Citizens have loyalties across Mzansi, one couldn’t help but tune into SABC3. Its instinctive, an unbreakable habit, its goanna take a while for people to remember that there is another soapie at 7pm.

What Etv did, was give the 6:30 slot to SABC with the likes of Skeem Saam and 7de Laan hitting one home run after the other. So the question remains, who will make the first move? RC or Isidingo? Whoever moves first will be seen as a weakling and history tends to repeat itself in soapieville.

So, round one goes to Isidingo who showed no signs of sweat, nervousness and took complete ownership of the slot.

Shows in this post: Rhythm City, Isidingo

It is all out war. Not being an Isidingo fan, I always tuned in for the news, it was just so weird yesterday. It was like I was stuck on time loop. As much as Isidingo has fan, RC is gonna own that slot, it is only a matter of time, they know it, we know it.

Ingenuity, I support the underdog, so I am very nervous for Isidingo because like me, they dont like confrontation, they have a tendency to run. So i'm nervous for them

Lol Soapiepolice, get them, I like this review! Very awesome write up. I just wanna say if I'm home at 7pm, I never compromise my time for Isidingo for any show hey. I hardly ever watch RC. Skeem Saam and 7de Laan, I think the audience is very segmented so it's easier for at least 90% of Soapie lovers to choose between the two. The results I'm most interested in is the battle between Generations the what what and and Ashes to Ashes.
