The SABC's put a gag on newsman Eben Jansen after his EFF-ing row with
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi last week.
Jansen exploded during an interview with EFF spokesperson Ndlozi on the SABC's 24-hour news channel, speaking over him and then refusing to allow him to speak.
He was taken off-air immediately and now he's been suspended indefinitely. Today the SABC issued a statement apologising to the EFF for Jansen's behaviour, calling it "completely uncalled for and unprofessional."
According to the statement: "The SABC has instituted disciplinary and corrective measures to ensure that Mr Jansen understands the severity of his transgression. Mr Jansen will not be presenting the programme until such time that News management deems it appropriate for his return."
Jimi Matthews - the Group Executive for News - is quoted as saying: "While it is appreciated that Mr Jansen has apologised for his poor professional conduct, corrective measures have been taken to ensure that such an incident never occurs again in the future."
There's no mention of what the corrective measures are exactly nor how the broadcaster will know when Jansen understands the severity of his actions.
