A new documentary-type series starts on M-Net this month that puts the spotlight on the volatile highs and lows various schlebs have gone through to get to Now.
It's called My Story and it's the about the hardships, joys, heartbreaks and victories they've faced over the course of their careers i.e. it's a sob story. Which could be interesting.
I often think that the nastiest thing about being a musician or actor etc. has to be the fact that you go through such extreme highs and lows and it happens a
lot. So many factors beyond your control can impact on you.
If you're in a TV show, the show could be cancelled or your character could suddenly be written out. One day you're In, the next you're Out and it doesn't matter how much good stuff you've done before - if your character dies, you're dead - unless you're on a soapie of course. The joy of getting a role versus the crush of losing one - they're extreme emotions linked to an actor's livelihood too.
It's similar with musicians, comedians etc. - their survival depends on landing that next gig or making people laugh - a sucky and potentially heartbreaking situation so My Story could be interesting for these reasons.
It starts on Sunday, 17 May at 18h00 with PJ Powers' story. Others confirmed to be featured include Patricia Lewis, DJ Fresh and Barry Hilton. Who else would you like to see? Who do you think's been through Rough Stuff?
