The e.tv Primetime schedule's going through yet another shake-up in mid-June with the removal of the Zulu news from the line-up. The channel's ditching the news and tucking it away on eKasi+ on OpenView HD where it'll air at 18h30 daily. The English bulletin at 20h30 will move into it's 18h30 timeslot on e.tv.
The evening schedule changes as a result, starting at 17h30 with the talk shows. Katch It With Khanyi and Eksê Zwakala move to 17h30 and Tyler Perry's House of Payne moves into their former timeslot at 18h00 from Mondays to Wednesdays. Celebrity gossip show Hush remains in it's timeslot at 18h00 on Thursdays.
This is what the new 20h30 timeslot will look like:
Kasi Living - on Mondays,
Spina Guluva on Tuesdays; and
Shuga on Wednesdays.
Medical Detectives will air in the 17h30 timeslot on Thursdays and Fridays and movies will start at 20h30 on both nights.
There's no word from the channel as to why the sudden change has been made but a possible explanation is that the channel wants to focus on the English bulletin because it's more popular than the Zulu one. In the week of 4 to 8 May (Monday to Friday) the Zulu news averaged 375,000 viewers while the English news attracted 599,000 viewers.
This notable difference could also be the result of the different timeslots so we'll keep a close watch on
the TAMS and keep you in the loop with what happens with the numbers.
The schedule changes take effect from Monday, 15 June.
