This is my 3rd blog about the Deep's latest manipulator (Pastor Gabriel) that literally sunk and swam out of my trash bin.
When I first saw this great man of God he resembled a character that didn't make it to the main cast list "Hamilton". Like him, he's hungry for money, wears expensive suits and I'm sure if I was a fellow actress, I would literally be sworn into his congregation because of his cologne and charm.
Pastor Gabe didn't just lure females into his religion, he lured the Deep's biggest mastermind, Barker Haines. And what joy it was to see that he's not a supporting actor because we love me some Pastor Gabe... "go Pastor, Pastor onketsang" (singing)...
His most sickest and profound scene for me was when he held his hands out to a brief case full of bloody money and prayed for it. In that scene, one almost believed he's truly a man of God and you felt protective over him. You wanted to protect him from himself and Barker and maybe throw him in a pool of holy water.
How is it that such a man can still seek reassurance from Barker: "Mr.Haines, did God make rules about money laundering?" Or what about Barker asking him if he has a conscience? I didn't know whether to cry, laugh or give that Scriptwriter a Bells in that scene. So twisted and thrilling how he speaks so well about being righteous and he recalls every scripture of the Bible and then he uses it to do the devil's work.
What about the sex scene with the devil's daughter (Nina) in the building where people are baptised and pray for? If ever The Deepenars (the Deep fans) thought their favourite soapie is a sinking titanic because of the death of Frank and Priya leaving, they just got a new reason to watch Isidingo again.
