SA's Got Talent: what to expect from Season 6

SA's Got Talent returns to e.tv for a sixth season this Sunday (6 September at 18h05) and introduces two notable new additions.

Most importantly: the moolah has doubled. It increases from R250,000 to 500,000 smackers.

The season also introduces the all powerful Golden Buzzer for the first time, which every contestant will want to hear. Each judge has one chance to press the Golden Buzzer during the audition phase. If a judge presses it during an act, the act will immediately advance to the live semi-finals so it's a Major Pro.

All other aspects of the show remain the same as last season. Tats Nkonzo returns as host and Shado Twala, DJ Fresh and Lalla Hirayama return to judge. 21 acts will be selected for the live semi-finals - which will happen over three nights - and six acts will make it to the finale.

Sunday's premiere kicks off with a combo of auditions from Cape Town, Durban and Joziburg and includes a duo who satirise South African politics and a Tina Turner lookalike (someone save us from the horror).

These are some of the other acts who will warm-up the season:

Tashni Moodley

Mandibsa Gumboot Dancers

Part-Time Vibe

Kool Zet

Edutainment

Ana

I'm SO over singers winning the show.  We've got a million singing competitions everywhere and yet singers keep winning this show too - and last season's winner totally disappeared! A different act needs to win now.

Trippy stuff... on the very day that I've been going on about last season's winner disappearing... she's releasing a single.

Tholwana Mohale released her first single today. It's called Hollywood Guy and it's been written by her too. It's about a girl who has a crush on a boy who she sees as “the one”.

These are some of the lyrics:

Do you wanna be my Hollywood guy? | We can run around taking selfies at night | Cause I know I wanna be the one you dream about | You're the one I think about when I'm on stage|
No, not really, but I'm sure it'll come with age | So what do you say? Can we try to be?”

It's been produced by FutureKings (Ross Jack and Alex Parker) and it's been in development since she won the show last year.

More from the release:

"15-year-old singer-songwriter Tholwana Mohale, winner of SA’s Got Talent 2014,  releases her debut single, “Hollywood Guy,” across all digital music platforms today.

The edgy production combines urban and pop sounds that defines the recent FutureKings chart hit, Toya Delazy’s “My City” feat. Cassper Nyovest.

Tholwana, a Grade 10 learner from Steinkopf, a small town in the Northern Cape, was born into a family of five and her mom is a single parent. She started singing in 2011 when her school offered guitar classes and her mom signed her up.

This year has been a busy one for the 15-year-old who has relocated to Johannesburg to continue her schooling and start recording music for her debut album due for release in 2016."
