DStv's Indian bouquets have overly complicated for too long so we're pleased to see them simplifying things.
They're introducing a new structure to their Indian programming this month by combining the North and South Indian bouquets into one.
They're going to be combined into a single DStv Indian bouquet, with three new channels added to it: Colors, Star Tamil and Star Hindi (which change names in December).
The cost: R319 per month or R205 if you also subscribe to another bouquet.
It's all happening from 15 October and there's no stopping it for some subscribers because existing North Indian subscribers and North-South subscribers (i.e. those who subscribe to both together) will automatically be changed to it.
Subscribers who only have the South Indian bouquet will continue receiving it and will have the Star Tamil channel added to it.
This option is only available to current subscribers though and new subscribers won't be able to get it. Also, if you disconnect your subscription for more than 90 days you won't be able to get the bouquet back and you'll automatically go onto the new one when you reconnect.
This is what you can expect from the new channels...
Colors is a general entertainment Hindi channel with English subtitles. Shows in the line-up include The Anupam Kher Show, the animated series Krishna Malram and soapie Meri Aashiqui Tum se Hi.
The two Star channels (Star Tamil and Star Hindi
) are going to feature Star Network’s premium content from 15 October to 30 November to allow subscribers to become familiar with the channels and get up to date with existing shows. From 1 December 2015, these channels will change to Star Vijay and Star Plus. Titles on these two include MasterChef India, Mahabharat, Coffee with Karan, Nach Baliye and Super Singer.
