The final round of auditions for The Voice SA are coming up in Joziburg this weekend, at Mark's Park Sports Club in Emmerentia.
They're happening on Saturday and Sunday (31 October and 1 November) and they mark the final phase of the search before the judges step-up for the Blind Auditions.
Over the past two days we've been receiving questions from auditionees about some of the finer details so we've put them together in this FAQ to answer them for you.
1. How early should we be there to perform or get a chance to perform?
It's difficult to say exactly what time will be best because it depends on how many people attend. The audition doors open at 09h00 so it's recommended that you arrive between 07h00 and 08h00 if you'd like to get a spot close to the front.
Of course you can also arrive at 03h00 in the morning if you want to be first.
The auditions are happening on both Saturday and Sunday so don't write off Sunday as an option. Word from the show is that Saturdays have been busier than Sundays so far so Sunday will also be a good day to attend.
2. What should I take with me?
The Jozi heatwave continues this weekend so prepare for high temperatures. Take sunblock, water and any other sustenance you think you might need.
Take an umbrella too in case the weather changes mood.
3. My daughter turned 18 in April this year. It is actually confusing if they say that you must be older than 18 years to enter. So do you have to be 19 years old to enter?
No, you can be 18 or older. You must be 18 on the day of the audition. There is no upper age limit.
4. Will I sing with a backing track or without music?
The auditions are a cappella so your audition will be without music so that the selectors can hear the quality of your voice in isolation.
You can audition with a musical instrument if you like, but word from the show is that the musical director prefers it if you don't so that it isn't distracting.
5. Will my audition be shown on TV?
This round of auditions won't be shown on TV. This is the pre-selection phase for the Blind Auditions, which will be aired on TV.
6. How can I keep updated on what's happening over the weekend?
You can follow the show on their Facebook page or on Twitter to get any important updates that need to be communicated on the day. These are links to both:
