I never imagined it would happen but it has. Corinne has officially become my second fave Survivor of the season.
After Sherri.
When Julia got snuffed into the furnace of forgettability on Monday I realised that we're seven weeks into Caramoan and I haven't properly committed to my faves. I need to and want to because the merge is arriving next week and I want to have a clear idea about how I feel about everyone.
So I've assessed everyone and compiled a checklist which led me to my Top 5:
Gota
Andrea
Cute with good perspective. I was impressed and tickled when she said: "I want to get as close to the fans as possible before I vote them out so they remember the good times and still vote for me in the end."
Definitely a dark horse.
Sherri
Love her, love her, love her. Was amazed when she chomped into the huge Cinnamon bun thing during their Reward Challenge because she still managed to look so classy while doing it.
Eddie
A Pig of note who I will NEVER like. No matter what happens from here onwards, I'll always loathe him for his belief in everything that's wrong with the world. Even if he were to save someone who's dying a bloodcurdling death I wouldn't change my mind.
Reynold
Ditto above. He's had a few moments where I've thought, "Maybe he's not so bad?" - like when he spoke to Malcom during their man-bonding in the sea - but his association with Eddie makes the thought disappear as quickly as it arrived.
Also, he's done exactly what Eddie's done in the past and the fact that he's good at challenges and supports his team can't make up for that.
Brenda
She was a good laugh with her power trip during the Reward Challenge and flashed good butt during the Immunity Challenge. I still feel I don't know her though. She says too little and relies on her bikini too much.
Malcolm
The new Messiah in his own eyes. I thought I was going to feel iffy about his attempts to ally with Reynold and the Pig but it's clear that he's simply using them which makes me feel a lot better. He has an additional confidence to him that he didn't have last season, which I'm liking because it isn't arrogant. I'll be SO over him if it changes to arrogance.
Erik
A Loser through and through. That hair of his is a constant reminder of what an idiot he was in the first season he played. The image has imposed itself on my brain and won't go away. He hasn't even
tried to change this impression.
Bikal
Phillip
Where does one possibly start?! His delusions, bragging and total implosion during the challenges was so mindboggling it turned hysterical. I kept hoping Dawn or Corinne would go on a sudden drive to snuff him until I realised why they won't. He's obviously being seen as
the person you want to get to the end with because there's no way he'll win.
Corinne
I found her jokes a lot less contrived this week and had an excellent chuckle at them all, espesh her description of Phillip.
Cochran
I'm starting to see why Dawn aligned with him even though he's betrayed her before. He has a greasy, humourous charm that isn't easy to pull off in his grimey clothes. He's also such a long time fan of the show that I'm feeling an affinity with him because I believe he's very genuine about it.
Dawn
Looks more and more scrunched up each week as the toll of her tears, rage and sunburn set in. Speaking of which... I've been concerned about how burnt so many of them have been. You'd think they'd be given sunblock!
Michael
He's quite sweet I suppose. His asides have been listenworthy but other than that he hasn't done anything except land the starring role in Corinne's memoirs. He's gonna get lucky next week because the merge will save him. Malcolm's right - they're definitely going to go for the stronger guys first. Not him but Reynold and
Eddie and I couldn't be more thrilled obviously.
And so, after assessing each, I've come up with my Top 5 list:
1. Sherri
2. Corinne
3. Cochran (I'm surprised by this!)
4. Malcolm
5. Andrea and Dawn
