On Friday night I was channel hopping through the news channels on my couch, hopped to eNews and paused. They were airing a promo for the next episode of Mpho Lakaje's Against All Odds and I suddenly found myself swimming in relief and yaydom, thrilled that his show exists.
Everything else I was seeing as I flipped between channels was so full of doom and fear mongering sensationalism that Mpho's show was such a breath of fresh air. Seeing it in relation to everything else really emphasised what makes the people on it so cool because they aren't letting anything hold them back.
They aren't letting the headlines or the difficulties of life stop them or change them - they're just going for it and doing what they believe needs to be done, with focus, determination and positivity.
Just like Mpho is. He's been doing the show for a long time and it can't be easy to be heard because of the noise of other news that comes as at us like a 24-hour, suffocating wave - but he's doing his thang with the people on his show and it's very inspiring to see.
