Should Bonang be E!'s Giuliana Rancic?

E! Entertainment brought out the big guns of Mzansi's celebville on Thursday night for a flashy shindig in Joziburg to announce the news that E!'s extending its local programming.

E! News Special has been renewed for a second season and the channel's going to be covering local red carpets for the first time so the signature E! microphone will ring with the sound of our accents.

The announcement party had a Live From the Red Carpet vibe going on so there were red carpet arrivals, a fashion show with designs by The Hair (Gert-Johan Coetzee) and live performances with Bonang in the centre of things.

Bonang made the announcement of the news and did a lot of arm-hooking with Gert which made me wonder whether she's going to be our Guiliana Rancic. She'd be an ideal asset for E! because of her fame - it would attract a lot of people to the channel's red carpet coverage instead of everyone else's BUT Bonang's too much of an A-lister who needs to be interviewed by E! instead of doing the interviewing.

Which is why I reckon it won't be her. I'm thinking they might start with a couple of different people by having different presenters headline each carpet. Guiliana never used to do it all when she first started. The first event they're covering is the SAFTAs, coming up on 20 March - good to start with seeings as the SAFTAs celebrate 10 years this year.

They'll be doing others too but they haven't confirmed which yet. Hopefully they'll do a lot so they can cut some of the painful reality shows we've been subjected to over the past few years. I've seen enough random families to last me a lifetime!

More red carpets are definitely better, especially if they're local because they'll be different. A second season of  E! News Special will also be better but only if they feature proper celebs and NOT Danny K. Only one person has been confirmed for Season 2 so far: D'Banj.

Bonang was on last season so she's done it already. Will she host on the carpet though? A trippy question because she does interview people BUT at the same time she's too much of a star. I predict that they'll go with hosts who are well known enough to be popular but who aren't A-lister.

I think they should bring a fresh face. Bonang is becoming a bit overexposed.
