Following weeks of speculation and misinformation, the police have finally issued a statement about what happened to Generations star Rapulana Seiphemo
in his tragic car accident in mid-February.
According to
Sunday World, the police interviewed Rapulana when he was at Milpark hospital and they've now released a statement revealing what he told them.
The statement is like something out of a TV show and reveals that Rapulana was the victim of a hijacking as many reports have speculated.
Rapulana told police that he was stationary at a robot when two men jumped into his car with a gun and demanded that he drive on the N14 toward Mogale City.
This from the police statement:
Rapulana accelerated the speed and the suspect at the back shouted at him to stop as he was driving at a high speed and he told them that they would rather all die instead of them taking his car and killing him.
Rapulana says they started fighting for the steering wheel until he collided with another white car.
The collision resulted in the death of Donovan van Zyl and his brother-in-law Jerry Coertze from Mogale City who were in the white car. Donovan's brother Jody survived.
One of the alleged hijackers Tebogo Makunyane also died and the other survivor Nathi Msiza has been arrested. Police have confirmed that he's facing charges of attempted robbery with aggravated circumstances - he's appearing at the Pretoria Magistrate's Court today for a bail hearing.
