Former Dragon Gil Oved announced as first SA Shark

He's back.

With a sharp Shark bite instead of Dragon fire.

Entrepreneur and advertising mogul Gil Oved has been signed to Shark Tank SA, as one of the five sharks on the reality show's investor panel.

And he's a perfect choice for the job because he was a dragon investor on Mzansi Magic's Dragons Den and he was excellent on the show. He was honest, opinionated and willing to spend his cash, which everyone else on the show was too.

We'd be more than happy if all of the Dragons swapped fire for teeth because Dragons' Den will never return and they were a most suitable panel.

Gil's specific expertise lie in advertising and in venture capital. He has two business degrees and started his company The Creative Counsel with his best friend Ran Neu-Ner in 2001. It's an advertising group which was bought by the French agency Publicis for an eight-digit figure last year. It currently has a turnover of R700-million a year with over 1000 full time employees.

He's also a board member of South Africa's second biggest venture capital tech fund Grotech so he has lots of experience in identifying profit worthy projects.

It's clear that M-Net's going to confirm the full shiver of sharks in stages so we'll keep you posted as more of them swim into the tank.

If you're an entrepreneur who wants to enter - a heads up that the entry closing date has been extended to 31 July (from 24 July). You'll find the entry details here: Shark Tank: the world's most exciting entrepreneurial show.
