Telemundo's latest telenovela Woman of Steel premieres tonight (Monday, 5 September) at 20h30 and debuts with a difference because it has a colourful future.
The majority of Telemundo's novelas only have one season each but Woman of Steel has three - so far. It starts from Season 1 for us and stars former Miss Mexico Blanca Soto as Sara Aguilar Bermudez, a woman of... you guessed it: steel.
She doesn't start out that way but undergoes a radical change after she dodges marrying a shady groom at her wedding that explodes into mayhem.
This is the official synopsis:
What would you do if the man of your dreams turned out to be a complete stranger, and the privileged life you thought you knew was taken from you in an instant?
That’s the challenge that 28-year-old Sara finds herself facing when, on what was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, tragedy strikes. The wedding between Sara and her beloved Vicente Acero (Damián Alcázar) is violently cut short when an armed gang attacks, murdering the groom and exposing his secret life of crime, as well as the $3 million debt he leaves behind.
Now on the run from a drug kingpin and framed for a murder she didn’t commit, Sara must find the strength to become the Woman of Steel. She’ll have to unravel the puzzle of her husband’s double life, and keep her son and herself alive without any money, and with a mysterious stranger watching from the shadows.
Sara seems certain to fail until fate intervenes, bringing her to Eliodoro Flores Tarso (Andrés Palacios), a married police agent who agrees to protect and care for her. The pair become lovers, and as Elio teaches Sara about firearms and money laundering, he also helps her to develop the intuition that is so important to her staying alive.
But in the world of dirty money and drug cartels, happiness is elusive. Will her resolve be enough to protect Sara from an enemy who will stop at nothing?
