Tendaiishe Chitima made her acting debut on SABC1's Mutual Friends in August and now she's poised to take on Isidingo too. She debuts this Monday (26 September) as Adelaide, an orphan from Zimbabwe who finds herself at the mercy of Nina (Khabonina Qubeka) in a human trafficking storyline.
Adelaide completed her studies in Zimbabwe but couldn't find work so she's come to South Africa because her aunt promised her a lucrative job. She has a fake passport and everything has been arranged for her but she isn't counting on the horror she has to deal with when she arrives.
We first see her at Nina's shebeen where she drops a bombshell when she lets the world know that she's Nina’s prisoner waiting to be shipped off to sex slavery. As you would expect, things explode and Obakeng (Anga Makubalo) gets very involved in rescuing her.
This is Tendai's second TV role as a Zimbabwean, which makes sense considering it's where she's from. She was born and schooled in Zimbabwe and did her tertiary studies at the University of Cape Town where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Film, Media, Writing and Drama.
Earlier this year she co-hosted the ZBC reality competition Zimbabwe's Greatest Talent where she was credited by her vibey stage name "Tensugars" so 2016 has proven to be her breakout year.
On Mutual Friends she plays Blessing, a Zimbabwean student involved in a complex love triangle between Badanile (Zimkhitha Nyoka) and Jabu (Jafta Mamabolo).
Stay tuned to see what she gets up to next.
