On Monday night (27 March) seven schlebs and seven plebs hooked up on the Tropika Island of Treasure premiere on SABC3 to start their mission of winning a million smackeroos.
The season started with the schlebs picking their pleb partners, which was a crucial step in the process because they're literally their ticket to winning R500,000. The winning team will win R1-million which they'll split into two so that each walks away with R500,000.
Which the schlebs will spend on...?
I caught up with each of them before they left to film the show in the Seychelles and asked them what they'll blow the money on if they win.
This is what they had to say:
Siv Ngesi: "When I win that money I will donate it all to charity and world peace! (Kidding) I will donate it to my account under my left pillow ... Ok on a serious note, this show isn't about money for me, it's about the pride of winning and I am addicted to that W word!"
Zakeeya Patel: "If I were to win R500 000 I'd spend lots of it on traveling! First stop Mexico! I'd also invest lots of it (Thank you Robery Kiyosaki, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad) and I'm a firm believer in 'paying it forward'- so I would love to invest in a worthy performing arts initiative or educational programme."
Anga Makubalo
Ooops... I can't remember what Anga said. I was too busy fluttering my eyelashes while perving him, espesh when he did this:
He told me he only sleeps 3 and a half hours a night!
What do you think he's gonna spend the money on?
Jessica Nkosi: "Pay off my house - I need to finish paying my house in Fourways. I want to buy a whole lot of property so I either need to pay it off or use the money as a deposit for another house so I can rent it out. It must just pay itself off."
Karlien van Jaarsveld: "I'll probably buy a piece of land to build a house on. In Pretoria, I love Pretoria and all my work is there. I would love to live in Cape Town but travelling is insane. I like an old farmhouse size house with everything big inside - not small spaces - and also a big yard for the kids."
Maurice Paige: "I will finally put my production company in running and do my educational theatre shows with unemployed actors who are in need of work."
Emtee: "If I should win the R500 000 I would firstly renovate my parents’ home and the remainder I will donate to a charity. Not too sure which one quite yet."
