So Imani's alive and kicking on Muvhango and now it turns out there's someone who's known that she's alive since the night of her "death": someone who helped her escape to Nigeria.
She arrives tonight (13 June), brought to life by TV newcomer Bukamina Cebekhulu.
Bukamina plays Gugu, Imani's older sister, who steps into the action when Thandaza (Sindi Dlathu) and
Mankosi (Cynthia Shange) ask her to help them bring Imani (Zonke Mchunu) back to South Africa.
They want to get Mfungelwa (Brian Mazibuko) out of prison for Imani's murder and ask Gugu to help them put things right, which takes her into multiple storylines.
This is what we know about the future:
Gugu's going to bring Imani and Ranthu's baby back to South Africa.
Ranthu's going to freak when he sees his son.
He's going to fight to keep him.
And Gugu isn't going anywhere because she's going to go into business with Ranthu, which means that Bukamina has given up her previous job to work on Muvhango full-time.
She's been working in TV production for the past six to seven years. She was born in KZN and moved to Joziburg in 2008 to study live performance and production design at AFDA and she graduated in 2010/2011.
She went on to work as a production assistant for ATTV productions (Gospel Classics, #Karektas) and then joined Stemberg Television (Noot vir Noot) where she was a production co-ordinator.
This is where she was working when she auditioned for Muvhango. She's had small roles on two shows: iNkaba and SABC1's Duma Ndlovu drama Ingozi, which led to her landing Gugu.
She heard about the auditions while filming on Ingozi, she auditioned and voila! she landed her big break.
