Thembisa Mdoda has earned the right be called a Presenter of Note and has the bling to prove it.
She won the public vote for Best Presenter at the SAFTAs earlier this year and last week she won the Best Presenter award at the DStv Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards.
I caught up with her afterwards to pick her brains on what it takes to pull off such a winning streak.
I discovered that she's a judge on the
Our Perfect Wedding Presenter Search so she's part of the process of finding her replacement.
If you're an aspiring presenter, move in close.... she has two tips that wrap into one, each as important as the other... this is her advice to auditionees:
Thembisa: They have to be fully prepared so that when they get there and do the audition, they don't have to be learning lines, they don't have to be thinking about how the show format works.
If we give them something to do on the day, they must be fully prepared to do so. They have to watch episodes, maybe learn another language, just be prepared - and also do it their way.
When you're in an audition, if you do it like somebody else, you're very forgettable.
If I didn't do the show my way, I don't think people would relate to it. So they need to be prepared and do it their own way.
Also, it's not like we can give them a link to do - I guess we can but it would be nicer for them to prepare a link that is theirs so we can see if they can write links because I used to write the links on the show.
