What does it take to be an award winning actor?
I chatted to Themba Ndaba who won the Best Actor award at DStv's Mzansi Viewers' Choice Awards last week and discovered that it's all about the pash for him.
This is his no.1 acting tip:
Themba: You've got to be passionate about what you're doing. Without the passion you won't get anywhere. I know there's a lot of people, kids, who come into the industry to be known, for fame, but it's not that.
If you're not an artist at hand, with a passion for the work, you will not make it.
When I started acting in the theatre, going to perform in township halls and for students, for R100 a week - that shows that you wanna do the art.
People don't see that part where you're in the theatre, performing in township halls - from there I moved to PACT (Performing Arts Council of the Transvaal) but it's all about the passion to do the art, first of all and nothing else.

Themba went on to tell me that he's contracted to Ferguson Films and The Queen until May/June next year and declared: "Hopefully they don't kill my character!"
Long live King Brutus!
