Enter the world of Count Arthur Strong, a comedy series based on the BBC radio show, which was voted fourth in the Radio Times "Best Sitcoms of the 21st Century".
In the series, Steve Delaney plays the titular character - a faded star from the golden days of variety. He never was as famous as he thinks... or still thinks he is, and now his days are all about opportunity - with another great entertainment triumph only a phone call away.
But until the call comes Arthur spends his days making the most of any other type of opening that comes along. This could be a free lunch or selling a dodgy foot-spa he doesn't want. He lives a 'hand to mouth' existence creating chaos and confusion wherever he goes, especially for his new friend Michael, who is blissfully unaware of any of it.
Michael is played by Rory Kinnear (Tanner in the Bond movies Skyfall, Quantum of Solace and other credits include Penny Dreadful and The Imitation Game).
Three things about Count Arthur we don't know:
He can count to 19 in Turkish (forwards when sober, backwards when drunk).
He has a tattoo of a fresh pineapple somewhere private.
He won the West Yorkshire Foundry's 'Knobbly Knees' contest three years on the bounce: 1968-70. Had to 'retire hurt' due to a knobbly knee related injury at the 1970 event, during which the police were called.
