One of the most notorious murder stories of the last decade, the mysterious Christmas Eve disappearance of the eight-and-a-half month pregnant Laci Peterson riveted a nation.
Scott Peterson, Laci's husband, was charged with her murder and the trial of the decade began. The jury found Scott unanimously guilty and condemned him to death, and publicly there seems to be no one who has ever doubted his guilt.
But even a quick look at the details shows a clear lack of due process. Witnesses who claim to have seen Laci were not questioned or brought to testify. Leads showing alternative scenarios were obscured and buried. Police obfuscation was uncovered and dismissed.
As December 2017 marked the 15th anniversary of the crime, this re-investigation of the Scott Peterson trial will look at the other side of the story and try to answer the big question that still hangs over the case: what really happened to Laci Peterson?
