The Handmaid's Tale 2

Channel: M-Net (DStv 101)
TX Time: 22h10
Genre: Drama

Elisabeth Moss reprises her role as Offred/June, a handmaid forced into sexual servitude as one of the few fertile women left in the world.

Though the end of Season 1 gave little closure, Season 2 opens with even less resolution: a now pregnant Offred must deal with the consequences of her decision to defy the sadistic matriarch of the handmaids, Aunt Lydia.

Season 2 will also detail the fates of the other handmaids, as well as the backstory of Emily, Offred's former Handmaid companion.

It's Complicated 2

Channel: Mzansi Wethu (DStv 163)
TX Time: 20h30
Genre: Drama

The first season followed Ipeleng and her long time on-off boyfriend Thatho, as well as the motley crew of friends and family in the form of Mandisa, Vumani, Thabang, Matli and Ntandokazi.

Last season ended with Thato marrying Ntandokazi against dizzying odds, and a heartbroken Ipeleng throwing caution to the wind and straying from her good girl character. And the best part? The pregnancy bomb!

The new season picks up just over four months after all the drama and truth bombs. This time, not only is Ipeleng's dogged determination to get the perfect life in the form of a marriage and children clouding her judgment, it also leads her to make a tragic error that costs her the very thing that she has always wanted.

Genre: Reality Makeover, Home Improvement

Flamboyant home-style consultant Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen visits a different neighbourhood in each episode and invites members of the local community to show him their inferior interiors and decorating disasters.

One resident, selected by Laurence, wins a home makeover, taking in design and architectural influences from the local area.

The transformation is then revealed to the owners, while being live streamed to the community for all their neighbours to see.

Slank 3

Channel: kykNET (DStv 144)
TX Time: 17h30
Genre: Talk Show, Food

Do you struggle to eat right and live healthy? Slank attempts to help by providing the right practical advice for you.

The show features five participants from the entertainment world, including Kevin Leo and Mimi Mahlasela, who are accompanied by doctors, a dietician and a chef.

The series doesn't focus on any particular diet, but rather on a sustainable and healthy lifestyle with the emphasis on food.

I wish I enjoyed Handmaid's Tale because of its feminism but I don't. I find it so unebelievably depressing it makes me want to slit my wrists. I tried and tried with the first season but it just dragged on, as if they were stretching it out for multiple seasons - which they are.

I've seen the movie and it was brilliant - it should have stayed a movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed Handmaid's Tale, as dark and twisted as it is and have been so looking forward to season 2.  Ofcourse elsewhere in the world they are screening the season 2 finale next week.

I've started watching season 2 of Top of the Lake (missed season 1) and was pleasantly surprised to see the character who plays Offred in a cop lead role there, thats nice diversity.

Yes, she's cool - not a barrel of giggles but quite mesmerising - I like how unconventional she is. I'm a big Top of the Lake fan - love its eerie meloncholy.
