Aha! Now we know what 7de Laan's Paula's been getting up to...
After 13 years on 7de Laan and 3 years of teaching, Diaan Lawrenson has been appointed as the Dean of AFDA (the African Film Drama and Art school) in Observatory, Cape Town.
Community newspaper
The Southern Suburbs Tatler featured a story about it this week, quoting Diaan as saying: "It's a big responsibility and an exciting new phase for me, and I am thrilled to accept this new journey that I am going on."
As you may know, Diaan moved to Cape Town permanently after she left 7de Laan and now lives in Mowbray with her actor husband Jody Abrahams.
Jody and Diaan before they were married-with-children in 2009.
Diaan's been teaching at AFDA since her move and according to AFDA's CEO Teresa Passchier, they're "extremely excited and honoured to have Diaan as the new dean."
This development takes Diaan full circle in her life because she studied at AFDA, graduating with an Honours degree 18 years ago.
She completed her high schooling at the National School of the Arts in Joziburg and went on to study writing and acting at AFDA's Jozi campus.

The article includes these quotes from Diaan about her time at 7de Laan and her perspective on the local industry:
"I loved my time there (at 7de Laan), I am really grateful for it. I met a lot of wonderful people in an amazing environment and story line and I made a lot of connections with people who took me in other directions."
"Our industry is growing, there are new voices, and new talented people who are writing, directing and producing."
"As long as we do not try to copy or imitate other foreign industries, and focus on our South African narrative and what we to have to offer the industry, we will grow."
