A new Big Brother-type reality show is on a search for 50 housemates who want to test their sanity in return for bucks.
The series is called Trap! Dis My Huis (Get Out! It's My House) and debuts on VIA (DStv, channel 147) in January 2020.
It's being produced by Afrokaans (producers of Survivor SA) and it's based on the international format Get the F*ck Out of My House.
Close-up on the format
50 housemates must spend three weeks in a two-bedroom house without leaving the house. Housemates who feel overwhelmed by the experience have the option of the leaving the house and the competition at any time.
Contestants are also frequently voted out of the house by their fellow housemates.
For the three-week period, the housemates must get by on supplies for only two people, but they will also have opportunities to obtain more food, toiletries and bedding for the house.
R1 million is saved in the house’s money pot and contestants have the option of using this money to buy supplies for the house. Supplies can also be won by means of mini competitions and games.
VIA guarantees the final winner will walk away with a minimum of R600,000.
